Wow - why don't you just get a savings account with a key card? No chance of ever getting a debit card with that.

    How does that work

Using their mobile banking app or phoning up and asking for an emergency cash code.

On the issue of not wanting a debit card; the only reasons I could see not to want want one are paranoia (of fraud, etc) and lack of self discipline.

picture this scenario, i want to buy a new TV form currys for £600, if i have debit card thats all i need to carry and should i get mugged in currys carpark, all ive lost is a card which with one phonecall i can block.

if all i have is a cash card i have to either go into my local branch and withdraw cash, or withdraw £300 from ATM the day before and another £300 on the day of purchase, i then go to currys park the car and get mugged or pickpocketed and loose my wallet along with the £600 cash.

Also many ATM machines charge so paying with debit card can be cheaper too.

Debit card far safer and should any fraud take place the bank is liable so long as you have been responsible with it and not lent it to the homeless bloke sitting outside the kebab shop on a friday night.

I don't know why this guy is so anti-debit card. I'm hopeless at having cash on me, infact I've pretty much used a charge card (Amex) for the last 100 things I've bought probably.

I hope the OP can get this sorted. He is absolutely correct in asking for a product that does what he wants without adverse criticism being heaped upon him.

Several years ago my debit card account was ripped off to the tune of around £6500. I spent a month getting it sorted out. If I'd used a cash card account that could not have happened. One simple reason not to want a debit card account.
Several years ago they didn't have chip and pin or extra password checks when paying for goods online.

The OP is not asking you to know why he believes what he believes. What has it got to do with you?

However, the fraud continues. I stand by my statements.

Mostly due to people being irresponsible with their pin numbers or falling for phishing emails, etc.

The post asked for assistance in a particular area, not a general discussion on the pros and cons of debit cards and cash cards.
