You can check the police website https://www.police.uk for crime and antisocial behaviour rates, and that is for all forces, by postcode. In some areas though people don't even reporting things as its so bad or frequent. Just a research tip....

Did you hear the rasp of a Swan Vestas being fired on the striking strip..?

Thought I did, but it turned out to be lots of words with double-L's in them :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Here you go, you could this one on a debit card! I would rather die than live in this part of Liverpool though!

looks to be a rather better buy, unfortunately it just looks like the estate agents mis-typed when they reduced the price.
    IANAL etc.

Some really offensive and sweeping statements here about my home town.. unfortunately it isn't as simple as "Very much the same case for Burnley. The houses there are cheap for a good reason in that no-one wants to live there" - quite a few more socio-economic factors at play..

I wonder which Utopia on Earth these commenters hail from.. glad I don't have you as neighbours!

Pretty much every town has bad areas and good areas and unfortunately in some areas of Burnley there is a hardcore minority that cause trouble and give their area as well as the town, a bad name.

As a side note to the original poster, good on you for knowing what you want and how to achieve it, if you come to Burnley you'll find the majority of people down-to-earth and friendly.

There's a ton of cheap housing in Hull. If you like 2 bedroom mid-terraced houses (and if you don't mind doing a bit of renovating) you can take your pick of a whole heap of them for less than £15k. Not all of them are in great condition but there's a few exceptions...not many mind!

This needs work on it but for £9,950 it's cheap as chips - http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-38342063.html?premiumA=true

    Or for £50 more - http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-38438255.html

Going up to nearly £15k for this one - http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-23244489.html

There's a bunch of others around a similar price going to auction too.

    Hull is super-cheap.

Me and OH had our first ever date in Burnley - neither of us lived there but i'll always have a soft spot for it.
I live in supposedly a lovely, oldy worldy, seaside location & it is - but it also has drugs, crime, chavs, long time benefit scroungers and generations of lazy arsed gits aplenty. It's easy to judge places from what you see from the outside - but you need to actually live somewhere to know what it's like.
In my job i deal with primary schools from many parts of the UK & the children from the most 'deprived' areas are in the main always the most well behaved - those that come from more affluent areas tend to be spoilt and unruly - only my humble opinion an all that .x

I am a skilled builder so thats no problem for me and my friends. ;)
If you are a skilled builder, why the need to be in the cheapest house in Britian? You should be able to live just about anywhere you want.

    Here is one alternative:

But be prepared for the cold and damp.

Scotland's pretty cheap! Weather's not good but hey, free prescriptions, ILA education grants, cheap bus fares, friendly people. Also, free hospital parking!! Or as my parents point out too, Daily Mail is 5p cheaper too, though wouldn't think that would be a deal clincher!

Worth considering Stoke on Trent. My home city. A firm favourite on Homes under the Hammer.

    http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-23347236.html

Would pull in £300 pcm approx, or £50 pw as a HMO. Very close to the city centre, huge population of students and migrant workers.

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.
