Parkingeye fined me, and I appealed :(

Hi everyone. I need some advice. I have read the stickies and countless posts on here and elsewhere, I’ve read things on the watchdog website also.
Basically parking eye have sent me a parking ‘fine’ and stupidly, I thought it was enforceable and responded to the appeals email immediately.
I thought that I had a genuine case as I became ill when I was in the retail park and felt really dizzy and unstable so I lost all concept of time and as parking eye have recently changed the parking rules at this car park, I was very confused. You used to have to get a FREE ticket to park for 30 mins. When you do this you know exactly what time you have until, to the minute. Now they say you don’t need a ticket but parking is still free for 30 minutes. I now realise that this is timed from when you enter and leave the carpark but I didn’t know this at the time and I had no idea what time I got there or how long I had been, and when I got back to the car I assumed that as I hadn’t been issued a parking ticket on the spot I was fine to sit in the car for a while and then drive off when I felt safe to do so.
I now realise that even sending this appeal was a stupid thing to do, I have admitted I was in the car (which I was), and that I did overstay my welcome. But it was a genuine mistake and I’d happily pay the £1 or what ever it is that they lost.
But a fine of £50 with threats to increase this fine on the 4th of July (When I am not even in the country) is just absurd. And I really don’t have £50 to give them.
It’s making me feel intimidated and anxious and I haven’t even received a reply to my stupid appeal yet, but reading what I have read, I can tell what that response will be. Its making me feel so bad that I am actually considering paying it somehow just to get the worry off my mind and to make sure I don’t get taken to court. But on the other hand I feel like it goes against my morals to pay these cowboys a huge fine.
Should I ignore all correspondence now or have I ruined my chances with my appeal?
They now have all my personal details which upsets me too.
Should I offer them the cost of their losses?
I am even considering visiting one of the shops I went to (Home Bargains & Boots for medicine & essentials) and asking if I can speak to a manager and tell them how I am feeling to see if they can help.
I know I am freaking out but after all I have read I just feel like a complete idiot to have wrote to them in the first place and it’s really upsetting me L
Thanks in advance for your help.

If you have been reading up in the parking section you will know by now the best policy is to ignore them from now on and not to engage them. It is a policy that works."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

You need to man up :-)
You'll just get some templated threat-o-grams until they eventually give up after 4 or 5 letters.
Anybody who has ever rented is pretty used to wading through junk mail from past tenants like this as soon as they open the front door!0 -

Ignore them. The End.
Dont understand either.Should be-

Wow you guys are nice!!!
First of all, I'm a woman not a man
And the reason I am worried is because I have read THAT much stuff on the internet that says 'you shouldn't send them an appeal/admit that you were in the car' otherwise they could take further action. There are contrasting views about this online, with some people saying they actually agreed to appeals & made refunds to others saying they have been to court.
I don't really like getting threatening mail, and now that I have engaged in conversation with them I worry that I have given them ammunition. I really don't want to be taken to court, I don't even know what that entails or if that would incur fees on my part that I definitely would have to pay.
One thing I will be doing is telling everyone I know the deal and not to respond if they get one of these ridiculous letters.
I think the reason most people react like this is because this company has done a great job of making these letters seem scary and enforceable.0 -
oh and you were not fined
You were "invoiced"
You will not be taken to court, just treat the mail like any other junk mail you are likely to get.
So move on

I've never had a parking ticket, council nor private, fine, been clamped, had points or been caught speeding or anything. So I had no idea I just assumed it was a real fine. I don't spend my life learning about these things having never had this problem.
Yeah I was a plonker but to be fair how was I supposed to know?
They are now going to repeatedly send me mail and make me feel anxious every time.
If watchdog are on to this, how are they still allowed to operate?0 -

Well its not so much there contrasting views, its just that there is deliberate misinformation, ignorant uninformed rubbish, and the truth. What you get here is the truth,And the reason I am worried is because I have read THAT much stuff on the internet that says 'you shouldn't send them an appeal/admit that you were in the car' otherwise they could take further action. Nah, they rarely try there hand at court, and especially after VCS vs HMRC, a recent court ruling that completely pulled the wheels off the PPC scam machine.I don't really like getting threatening mail, and now that I have engaged in conversation with them I worry that I have given them ammunition. I really don't want to be taken to court, I don't even know what that entails or if that would incur fees on my part that I definitely would have to pay.
Having said that, even if they Do try, if it looks even vaguely like you might file a competent defence (and theres plenty to choose from), the PPC will chicken out at the last minute, cos even they know they cant win. What they are hoping is that you wont file a defence, wont turn up at court, and so they win by default. Even if that happens you can get the judgement annulled and defend it properly and win.
oh yes, and it doesnt help that other companies believe the rubbish put out by bodies like the British Parking Association (in reality no better than a medieval Thieves Guild) and Disability Motoring UK (Supposed to protect and stand up for disabled drivers, in reality in bed with and taking money from 13 of the scammers), and the CAB (forced to peddle the BPA rubbish or they lose there government funding).
One thing I will be doing is telling everyone I know the deal and not to respond if they get one of these ridiculous letters.
