Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 28 June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all,
Bright and beautiful day here, I had spoken to Dr yesterday who thinks my ear is slowly on the mend,I am still in pain with it, so has recommended a lot of rest between now and sat, so have taken the day off in the hope that I can beat the infection, fingers crossed.
So not a lot will be going on here, will take dd to the station, and then do nothing, I have a good book to read, and maybe a couple of films, doing nothing does not come naturally to me, but I will try
Oven chips for the others tonight nice and easy just shove in the oven.
Ok have good days all xx

Morning Redruby and all who follow. Muggy and damp here today but not actually raining so Jack and I had a nice walk. Very proud Mum today as my DD got her Uni results yesterday and she got a 2.1. She is thrilled and we are all very proud. Graduation day on the 12th of July. Have posted a link to some pictures of our new kitten, he is called Loki after a Norse god and a character in a film!!!!! http://www.flickr.com/photos/miffy257/sets/72157630317617910/
Hope the link works. Hugs to all in need, hope your Mum is on the mend MH and that your ear is better RR Have a good day all.:)£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

Morning all,
RR - really hope those anti-bs kick in quick for you. Rest really is the best thing but I'm very much like you, can't sit still.
Rained overnight and looking overcast here, muggy though and set to hit 25degrees this afternoon.
Got another big scary meeting with DHs work in a couple of hours, they're coming here so I'm on my own turf, always makes it easier but still don't want to do it.
DD1s prom tomorrow night, she decided her dress needs more "oomph" so I picked up some netting to make her a petticoat yesterday, just need to get it made this afternoon. Need to go get some super duper hairspray and some grips to take to the hairdresser for tomorrow too, found a local mobile hairdresser who will do an updo for £20 which I thought was very reasonable considering how much the salons are charging.
Turfed all the kitchen cupboards out yesterday, scrubbed and reorganised the entire thing and freed up more shelf space for stock piling stuff.
Got a lovely new bread maker on Monday for my birthday so the smell of fresh bread has been wafting through the house regularly. Going to whack another loaf going in a bit for lunch. :T
Suns beginning to peek through so best go find some washing to get in the machine.
Hope you all have great days
ETA - Miffy, Loki is gorgeous! Our kittens are all at the "legs are to long for their bodies" age now but it's been amazing having three together, they play constantly."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning everyone
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Light cloud and very wet underfoot here this morning, but sun now trying to break through the clouds. Still feels quite muggy.
DH up and off to work at stupid early.
Dinner last night was roast chicken, potatoes, carrots, broccolli, peas and gravy, and dessert from the tins for those that had room. Was reasonably productive yesterday afternoon - got several jobs done that I thought I may have to rush around today to get done. Friend who usually comes for coffee on a Wednesday didn't come over so was able to utilise the 2+ hours that she's usually here to crack on - managed to get the pile of ironing done - still have some but it's nowhere near as much! Will spend today doing my normal Friday jobs, so will be heading to the bank, shopping etc shortly. I will also be going to the carwash with the big car ready for tomorrow at some point. Also my meeting with the school has been rescheduled from 1pm this afternoon to 10am this morning - realistically that's better for me, as they won't give me any more than an hour so I still have some good time left to be able to get all my jobs done. Will pack for going away later too, we'll be taking the caravan to the site when DH gets home from work tonight, it's only 20 mins away, I'll cook the dinner whilst the menfolk "set up" and we'll eat dinner there and then come back and sleep here ready for the funeral tomorrow - its at 10am so we need to be out of the house by 9.30am - we're going directly to the church and will meet my sister and here family there. Mum and dad and other aunt and uncle are following the hearse from the undertakers. Hope the weather can be kind to us as it's a burial and it's not nice at the best of times but my boys are coming and have never been to a burial before - I find it more difficult than cremation (sp?).
Must go and crack on.
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Miffy - you named a cat after a God of Mischief? Isn't that tempting fate. Our evil cat is getting a bit old to be too bad, but really with her she is more old in sin and even if the flesh is weak her spirit is still willing. She is still doing her best to trip people on the stairs. Mind you, a friend nicknamed her cat 'Satan's Little Helper'.
Crashing here so will be trying to sleep after school run, hopefully remembering to get something out of the freezer first.
nmlc - thinking of you.

Morning All!
Sunny morning here in Hastings.:rotfl:
Going to my Dad's Canal Zoners meeting today, so I will be having lunch out.:T
WM on, done two loads, just towels to do now. Going to try the white vinegar wash, as I hate using the tumble dryer too much.
Won some nice ebay stuff yesterday. Need to buy another botanic garden saucer, as I broke one this morning:mad:
Cleaner due today. Have stripped the bathroom, so I need her to concentrate in there today. Aunt and Uncle coming Saturday, so I want it to look okay:rotfl:
Anyway, (((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) if you need them.
Enjoy the day!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning everyone,
Miffy well done to your DD!
Redruby glad the ear is getting better.
Pooky good luck wwith the meeting.
nmlc hugs.
DS had his prom last night. We went to a get together before hand at a friends house and 8 of the boys were there looking really handsome and grown up. I think that DS had a good time but I haven't really seen him yet. He went off to a friends house afterwards, returned home at 6am and went straight to bed!
Got up early this morning to take DD1 to school as she was heading off for a german exchange for a week, she was so excited! I am really tired now!
The Olympic flame goes past the end of my road today, hope I get a glimpse.
Mum is a little more comfortable now thanks. DD2 and I are going to see her for the day on sunday.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
morning
redruby make sure you rest up today x
pooky its my DD2s prom tomorrow tooeverything is in place , outfit, hair appointment , makeup so hopefully it will all run smoothly
Im feeling really down again , i think it must be cyclical , i have no energy and feel completely unappreciated . i need to pull myself up somehow
DD2 pulled the dining room curtains down this morning rail and all, i had told DH several times one end had come away from the wall and need screwing back in , i also told him someone would pull it down it if he didnt mend it  why dont they mend things whilst its a relatively small job , why wait until it becomes a much bigger job  he is like it with everything , doesnt mend something until it becomes an emergency when in reality he could have prevented it from happening  rant over
DD2 is on an induction day at 6th form today DD1 wants to go shopping ...again
have a good day everyone x0
