    So, let's put it simply.
    You cancel the DD.
Then, instead of reinstating it or making a manual payment, you just wait for them to start chasing you through all three numbers you have with them on your name to rearrange the payment?

I think the cut lines was a very predictable and fair result of such attitude.

Also remember that because you cancelled your dd and Vodafone couldn't get there money they will probably put a strike on your credit file for none payment

At the end of the day you should have contacted Vodafone before you cancelled your dd even if you couldn't pay them Sorry but this is down to you.

    Hi DPountney,

It certainly sounds like a frustrating situation that shouldn't have continued for as long as it did.

You haven't mentioned whether or not this is now resolved and payments are successfully being made by the direct debit.

If it's not resolved and you would like further help, feel free to contact me via the email address here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject.

    Kind regards,

    Am I missing something here?

OP made a mistake by cancelling DD - we can agree on that. Now regardless of Voda calling his wife etc, the real point, I think, is that in trying to rectify the situation and reinstate the DD, the catalogue of failures to reset up this DD is unacceptable.

Yes, if he hadn't cancelled DD etc etc, but you can't lay the subsequent failure of setting up the DD at OP's door. Remember, DDs are set up by the payee, not the user.

So move on from regurgitating the "initial fault is down to OP".

After vodafone contacted your wife did she not then contact you to tell you that they had got in touch, or do you and your wife never talk to each other i would hope if i was incharge of the bills and a call like this came through that my other half would tell me about it

My point was: let sleeping dogs lie.

When dealing with such disorganised and shambolic company like Vodafone one must be crazy to cancel the DD and then to wait until Voda start chasing them to collect the payment and to hope that Vodafone reinstate it easily without problems and consequenses.

Not actually getting at your post in particular - just catching up after 10 days with no or very restricted 0.15mps broadband!

Just in general MSE members telling OP what he did wrong and putting all the blame at his door. Seems in this case, on the face of it, the Voda shambles you refer to has performed true to perceptions.

Having said that, I have been with them now for 3 years and just renewed with a great deal and, so far, have had absolutely no bother either technically or CS wise.

    Yes - I AM THAT PERSON ! :rotfl::rotfl:
