Impulse wedding dress purchase!

Hi everyone,

I am getting married to my lovely H2B in July 2013. I've been looking at this board since we got engaged in March, but this is my first post...

I was looking online today (read another thread about a bridesmaid dress from BHS), and while I was looking at that dress on the BHS website, I saw another bridesmaids dress which is exactly what am looking for for my actual wedding dress! :)

Anyway, I ended up buying it! It was £70... I can't put a link as I'm a new user, but it's the BHS Beatrice ivory lace bridesmaids dress if you are inclined to google it!

It's very MSE! But what do you think? Will it be wedding-dressy enough?! And is it really the case that I could end up just spending £70 on my wedding dress?!! Anyway, am waiting for it to arrive so will see how it is. Just thought I'd see what you think...

    Aww, I think that's beautiful :j

I don't think that it really matters how much you spend on a dress (providing, obviously, that you can afford it), as long as you love it. If you do, then what is it to anyone else how much you spent?

    Welcome to MSE, btw :)

it is beautiful. it's not all about how much you spend on a dress, if you put it on, look in the mirror and think : that's the one! Then keep it.

Let us know how you get on.

It's lovely and I hope it's possible as all the dresses I like are bridesmaids dresses as well!

    Thanks everyone!

I will let you know how I get on, hopefully it will arrive this week. Am planning to change the black ribbon for another colour.

If it's right then that's a job done..! Am never this organised! And I suppose this means there's more in the budget for some fabulous shoes?!! Not so MSE!

I think you need to go try on'proper' dresses before you resign to this one, do it quick so you can return it if needs be then youll really know if its thee one or not, you then have to stop looking at dresses though just incase a new one comes along that you swoon at :)
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p

I think it's stunning, and the black ribbon is tres chic, I'd be inclined to keep that too!

I know what you mean Bubbles, and part of me does wonder if I should go and look in all the bridal shops..But I am reluctant because we are trying to do it on a shoestring, and I am worried that if I go into a posh bridal boutique I might end up spending too much!!

I'll see what it's like when it turns up - it may be too short as I am 5'11" :p
  • Have a seamstress put a lace frill on the bottom if it's too short :)

    And it's so pretty!!
