I fall asleep almost every time - I tend to take the kids to the Odeon kids club (£2.50 a child, one adult free for each child) so I get a free snooze and the kids are kept amused. It's best if you can pre-book premier seats though, they cost the same, but make for a much comfier nap.

I often fall asleep in the cinema too! :o

My dad used to when we were kids but he was embarrassing as he snores! We would wait until he nodded off and then move seats!

I slept through the first 3 Harry Potters - kids were then old enough to go to the cinema on their own!

My FIL always does it but I don't think it's the cinema environment that does it. He does it at home when watching films too!

I found that an interesting quote. I used to go to the cinema regularly when I was younger - and it was cheaper! :D I stayed put for the whole film, so that I didn't miss anything. It wasn't a hardship.

We used to watch films on the telly. Same approach. Sat in my chair from start to finish, so that I didn't miss anything. I didn;t feel tied to the chair though...

My kids have grown up watching videos and DVDs - and new-fangled Sky malarkey stuff.

So they are used to using the pause button at regular intervals, so that they can wander off and get some popcorn, or text a friend, or just stand up and wander for the sake of it, because they have lost the ability to sit still for more than ten minutes at a time.....:mad:

    It drives me bonkers!!!

I wonder if it's a generational thing? Hard though it is to write that, when it puts you in the 'older generation' category :o

If I am tired I nod off when I take the kids to the cinema, but I will also fall asleep watching a film at home if I am tired. However I am more likely to nod off at the pictures, think its the dark that does it.

My husband rarely comes to the cinema with us as he says it's a waste of money as he always falls asleep.

I've never fallen asleep as i'm too tight and hate the thought of wasting the price of my admission. :o

I never fall asleep in the cinema, but then again, it is always freezing! I often wear a cardigan and coat, and wrap a scarf round my face. The air conditioning is somewhat keen! I usually ask them to turn it off. Incidentally, I rarely wear a coat and only occasionally wear a cardi, as I'm so warm most of the time.

I'm always cold too. My daughter has a small High School Musical fleece throw and I always threaten to take Troy with me into the cinema. :D

P.S. In answer to the OP

    - across the decades, with all the films I have seen in the cinema, I have only ever fallen asleep three times:

The Unbearable Lightness of Being - it partly did what it said on the tin. It was not light. But it was unbearable.

Wings over Berlin (original subtitled version) - apparently it was about angels on a battenburg cake. Or something like that.

Paris, Texas - it was like one of my sponge cakes. Packed full of good ingredients. Yet, strangely flat, uninspiring, and ultimately inedible.

I am personally convinced that any good reviews these films garnered were because the reviewers fell asleep, and were too embarrassed to admit it! So, they cribbed from the publicity sheets.

Otherwise, I have stayed awake through many fabulous films, and quite a few stinkers. I have paid to see it, after all...:rotfl:

I've only fallen asleep in the cinema once (Pirates of the Carribbean 3) :o lol

At home though? Dvd's would need to be started by 7pm if I've any chance of watching the whole thing! Any later and I'm almost guaranteed to miss some of it.

Dark room + comfy seat + heat = sleep :D

PS. I'm only 31 so I can't blame my age! Saturday nights I'm looking to come home at 10 when all the 'young' people are heading out!! :rotfl:
