Credit Card Junk mail

Why remove your personal details? If you don't tell them who you are how do you expect them to remove you from mailing lists?
Just cross through your name and address, write Gone Away on the front of the envelope and send it back. This is the best way to get taken off lists, as companies aren't going to waste their money writing to you if they can see the envelopes aren't even being opened.0 -

Bit OTT there
What's OTT?
I have provided 6 points of useful information for people to stop getting junk mail. Which I think is a lot more useful than "put it in the bin".
I forgot about the electoral roll which is a good point. If they are not sent to me, they will only be sent to someone else
I do believe it's possible for people to change things.By opting out of the mailing lists they are not going to print 999,999 leaflets rather than 1,000,000
If 100,000 people fo it (and lots of people are starting to) then it could change the way that businesses operate.
All progress depends on the "unreasonable man".
If I'm the "unresaonable man/woman" then so be it, but I'm not going to give up like you, I'm going to try to attempt to change things (little by little).
People did change the poll tax so I do believe there is historical precedent.
If people protest about junk mail then companies (like royal mail) will give up trying to make money out of it and focus their efforts elsewhere.0 -
but still get loads of rubbish from current providers that we use for credit cards etc. Am Ex seem to be the worse as we also get calls from them trying to sell us all manner of insurance etc.
They may have an option for you not to receive "offers that may be of interest to you".
Ultimately (and I have done this before) if they won't reduce calls/mail then you could close the card and find another one.
I usually tick or untick the box on the application form about "offers that may be of interest" and don't get any hassle but companies like MBNA can be quite bad.
You need to be careful with the boxes to tick because sometimes you need to tick them and sometimes they need to be unticked (the cynical side of me would say this is a deliberate plot but it's probably just different companies acting independently).0 -

Believe you still may have missed the first 6 words of my original post
I never mentioned anywhere about not trying to stop it being sent out in first place0 -

puting it in the bin shredded or not adds weight and reduces space. Councils now want to reduce bin collections to once a fortnight0 -

So if through my efforts to get this mail stopped, I still receive some, if I cant shred it, and cant put it in the bin, what am I then supposed to do with it?!0 -

I don't send it back to get my name off the list it's simply to waste their time and keep their rubbish out of my bin. I remove my personal details to try to avoid identity theft0 -
