Exactly. You waited to see someone holding the torch amble past you. Now how long would that take ?0 -

I felt a bit like that when I saw it, as it was over so quick. But me and my friend decided to follow the torch to the next village. We took the shortcut and beat the torch there by 20mins, we happened to park up randomly at a spot where they were going to do a torch changeover. So we were lucky enough then to have our pics taken with the torchbearer and got to touch the olympic torch :j. My tip for finding a torch changeover point is to look at the "local map" displayed in shop windows etc where the torch passes. The map will give a "time" when the torch is due to pass, and that is usually the torch changeover point. Also, each torchbearer runs only about 300 yards, and the next torchbearer is dropped off about 15 minutes before the torch passes, so if you walk along the torch route following the coca cola truck, you should find the next torch bearer. I managed to get my pic taken with 3 torchbearers when it went thru my area!0

I made the effort to watch it go through my town and saw lorries advertising the sponsors, people selling cheap flags, whistles etc...police on motorcycles high fiving the spectators but because the person carrying the torch was surrounded by other people...it was over in seconds and many of us...missed it and never saw the person carrying the torch or the torch! So I stood for almost an hour and saw nothing!:("A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
