Argh!!!!!!! its been around here today, my Facebook page is swamped with mobile phone photos of some bloke in a tracky waving a blow torch around. Hoo flaming raaa!
Would be more useful around here if he turned it the other way up and cleared some weeds growing in cracks in the run down town centre, council are not bothered. A fair turn out of patriots waving their little plastic made in China poundshop flags. I am surprised they can afford the gas to put in the thing here in rip off corporate Britain (how much per unit Centrica???)
Don't get me wrong, I love my country with a passion, but I am embarrassed for it to be under the spotlight when its in such a woeful state to what it could and should be and this is a long way from fixing it.0 -
What put me off was the entourage before, made me think why it needed tax money was needed. And then they allow upstart celebs to run with it. Now, with Thomas Cook selling tickets for major events, makes a complete mockery of the ticket sales.
I wish now I never applied for tickets and gone abroad instead!I hvae nt snept th lst fw mntes writg ths post fr yu t cme alng hre nd agre wth m!

Well, it arrives here in Coventry this evening, between 6 and 7 pm.
The Coca Cola banners and signs are up in the city centre advertising where you can buy, yes, Coca Cola brands to drink - even the cafe in the transport museum has them up.
There were even people in Coca Cola fleece jackets in the city centre doing, something, I don't know what as they were chatting amongst themselves when I walked past to go and get my bus home.
Soon will come the "We only accept Visa cards and cash" notices in shop windows. So, people of Coventry, start leaving your cards that aren't Visa at home for the next couple of months...0 -
Nope next will come we only sell coca cola BUY OR GET OUT lol!0

What really irks me is that aren't these London Games supposed to be the People's Games, yet there have been a few stories in the papers where local businesses have put the Olympic logo in their windows, and then been told to take it down because it's copyrighted.
Okay, but this is supposed to be our Games, our money is paying for it, so a little leeway would be more prudent, wouldn't it, or are the egos and bank accounts of Lord Coe and his corporate pals more important?0 -

Exactly it's our money. Or at least it's our money that will likely make up the difference between the £2.5 billion that Ken and his pals said it would cost and the £9 billion or so that it is going to actually cost. If flogging off the right to display the Olympic logo is one way of bridging that gap then I, for one, have no complaint.0 -
antrobus - a lot of the companies hit by this have been small, local, businesses wanting to show some support for the games and increase their revenue, and can't afford the licensing rights, especially when we've got:
Coca Cola
Procter & Gamble
Visa
And other sponsoring the entire thing, so how about realistic licensing costs, Lord Coe, or is that beyond the abilities of your Locog team?0 -

Noticed how the prices for the Thomas Cook packages are slowly coming down week by week as they are running out of time to sell them.0
