Thanks for everyone who wished me luck for my interview.
It is on Thursday & I'm getting more & more nervous.
I have not had a proper interview for a job I really wanted for 15 years (although I have had 2 jobs since that one).
What to wear & what to say when I don't meet some of the essential skills are my most worries.
Congrats on setting dates, new jobs
Hugs to EVERYONE who needs them
Just remember they asked you to come in for an interview. Clearly your application has impressed them already or they wouldnt waste your/their time with an interview
If they ask about skills you dont have dont lie about it. Say you are keen to take on a challenge, like to learn and that you are a fast study. Give examples of how you picked up some of your current skills in your current workplace either by working alongside people or on your own. This will show that you have drive and can work in a team
They might want someone who is eager to develop their abilities as much as someone who already has them. That person might rest on their laurels and who really wants to employ someone who has no aspirations to better themself?!?
Just, whatever you do, dont say "i dont have that skill" unless you tell them you think you have other skills or can quickly develop the skills they want
Thats how i looked at my last interview (which i wasnt fully qualified for at the time) and i got the job. Just be confident in yourself!Apparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0 -

Another thing I can add is that most interviewers (correct me if I'm wrong woopisequeen) ask the questions "What would you say are your strengths?" and "what are your weaknesses?". That's the question most people get stuck on and stutter out some reply that does them no favours. Be prepared in case.
I got asked "give an example of a mistake you have made at work and what you learnt from it". I hadn't considered that coming up but luckily i can think on my toes
I told them about a deadline i missed and that i now religiously use a calendar to plan my day/week, ticking of tasks as i go. Recurring tasks are pre-populated in my calendar for the full year ahead
The only recurring task not in my diary is the 8pm whoopsie run but i don't need a reminder for thatApparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0 -

will read up on the job tonight & have a think about the obvious q's
'What do you like about working for this company'?
This has served me well in the past and catches them off guard in a nice way, usually answered with big smiles.Take care what you do on the way up, it may come back at you on the way down.

Morning everyone,
Good luck today Frequent, hope all goes well
Congratulations Beki, I loved planning my wedding
Jumbejack - I like your recipe for wild rose petal jelly, there are loads of these bushes in my T's carpark is it thick like jam or more like syrup, tia.
Mine is like a very thick honey/syrup in consistency. Very pleasant indeed.
Try it on pancakes or over ice cream. It is also exceedingly good on toast (I had 4 rounds of toast the first time I tried it:eek:):A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

If they ask would you like to ask them a question try this one.
'What do you like about working for this company'?
This has served me well in the past and catches them off guard in a nice way, usually answered with big smiles.

French_Knickers wrote: »They are generally just better trained than Tesco staff and almost always seem to mark the receipt and voucher. No point them keeping the receipt once they have ringed the transaction number really. After the remarks made this weekend though, I'll be paying closer attention to what happens to my receipts!!
The receipt won't show them which items yielded the highest returns either. They'd have to take the receipt home and put the items into mysupermarket.com to actually get that info.
I love tesco for their cockups.....but bottom line is I love my cheap food, drink and fuel and ain't too fussy which supermarket supplies it really. I'd just like it to continue as long as possible thats all.All they have to do is just input the details of the receipt back intot he APG checker to see what the prices compare to... no need to go to Mysupermarket.com
^^ This what I was getting at. If they have the receipt (and the only time I've seen them marked is when they're giving them back to me) then they can easily go back to the APG site, re-enter the info and Bob's yer Uncle. The Tesco price check is open to abuse by customers but the APG one is open to abuse by staff. Seems neither company can win.
I get what you're saying but it's hard to guage on here what is acceptable and what isn't. Many use more than one Tesco price check per transaction when it's not allowed. Many use multiple identical vouchers in one transaction (thinking back to the MAM stuff) which isn't allowed. Clearing the shelves of bargains is ok if you post on here but not if you lurk. Selling stuff you glitch at a car boot is ok if you post and don't lurk. It's hard to know where to draw the line so in future I'll keep things like this to myselfI was actually working on what I was hoping was a glitch in Asda but I'm not confident about posting it now.

Caught up now
Thank you everyone, we have been engaged 3 years now but the time has never been right but finally knuckling down with the savings so can have the wedding I really want, although FIL has already grumbled and said we should use the local rugby club as it's much cheaper! I can see this being a fun 10 months of planningHave no idea where to start really!
QPR thanks hun that is our second choice as it is only 5 mins from the church and my house.
Hope the new job goes well today frequent
Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end0
