Sorry but thats not true. My Iphone has the latest OS and in the image I posted the messages came over a maybe ten minute period, they certainly were not in the same minute.

It's a known feature of iOS. It's not bad, you can look at the text message list to see the last text message to see the last ones time, and the phone must record them it just doesn't display them per message.

It's either down to a set time elapsing (seems abourt 15 mins), or maybe you leaving the messaging app so your not having a continuious conversation, never quite work out which.

You are right. It seem to be 15 min, shows from the earliest to new? I don't think this is a bad point because text messages are shown like msn or Facebook conversation.

I disagree that the iOS feature isn't bad.

For a lot of people i can see why it isn't a big deal, but for me, i often rely on it (or did with my old phone). One example would be starting my break time at work: text the wife straight away & then continue with my break. Some times i forget what time i started my break so look at the texts. With the iOS feature, sometimes i can be 10 minutes after she text me, yet my text wont be stamped as it's "within the frame", so i'm left guessing as to what time i started my break ...... & with the bigwigs watching our every move, you can get called in for being just 1 or 2 minutes over.

What does it matter if you do not think its a bad thing? The OP clearly think it is and hence started the thread..... You do not need to join this thread to tell him its not a bad thing do you? I dunno how is that helpful to the OP

To many it's not a bad thing, most people do not need to know by minute and second to know when text message is received as long as all messages are in order and timed every few minute.

I am sure the op will have a good reason to know when all messages are received by the minute. Starting the post is not going to put the function in, the op already know before starting the post that iPhone do not have that function.

You would be better of going with Android. Th iOS 6 also do not have that function. No need to wait for iPhone 5 it seem you are down to s2 or s3.

What's the point of trying to time stamp all text messages with the same information if received within the same minute? With the Android example two text messages have the same information. If you compare both photos the iPhone one look much clear, easy to read and use.

Both photos have the same information but iPhone screen is clean and easy to read. This kind of small things with the iOS make it better then others.

If you compare both photos the Android one looks much clearer, easy to read and more useful.

Texts with time and date, it's this kind of small thing with Android that makes it better than the others.

And yet you can't seem to not try and defend with your life the slightest of criticisms against an iPhone.

I bet apple can sleep at night knowing you are on this forum 24/7 to defend their honour !!!

As I said in the last post, if that function is important to op then better to buy for S2 or S3, the soon to come is 6 is also not going to have that function.

What I can't understand is why wait for iPhone 5 when you know it's not going to have that function. Why not get S2 or S3 now?

One minute op said he uses that function to check the time to know when to take a break because his wife text him to remind him via text message to go for break and then text again to send the reminder to go back to work, next minute says he is upgrading from 3GS which do not have that function. How odd?

I don't think most people use text messages way op is saying. If I was op I will use watch or reminder function on the iPhone 3GS, the current phone op is using.

Or you could use the countdown timer in the phone?

It's not a bad idea, I don't need to know exactly the time each text comes in just a rough idea, and this helps me see conversations rather than seperate messages, but others may see it as a deal breaker, it does keep the view a bit less cluttered, but it's doesn;t make it better or worse than android phones, (or Windows or WebOS, or Symbion or any just phone OS) it's like the choice of S2/S3/iP5 it's down to personal prefernces and choice that come into play.

Unable to understand what the thread is for do you? Just because someone said something bad about iphone that they do not like you need to say something else.

OP started the thread to ask if the Samsung S2/3 have this function knowing very well iphone does not. You coming into this thread telling him that not having the stamp date and time for each message does not matter is in what way useful for him?
