Amusing ideas on nutrition - some good, some utterly barking.....

Weekday breakfast is toast, weekends, bacon sandwich. Life isn't life without the occasional bacon sandwich. Mr Kellogg would be aghast.
Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Being alone I eat what I want when I want and my Breakfast could be in the evening but I like all the variety I have discovered thanks to this thread and links to websites.

As said elsewhere you can do Brunch. You can have as much or as little too. If you have a decent Breakfast say Cereal or porridge with fruit, fruit juice, toast and a Full English, tea or coffee...it probably wouldn't matter if you ate nothing else for that day or just had a few small snacks...

  • Can anyone help me? My 3 year old is being very fussy about breakfast. He won't eat cereal or toast. I have tried him with all sorts of things, malt loaf, muffins, low sugar biscuits. What do you all have for breakfast? I don't mind baking stuff, I just want a fairly healthy option that is quick. He is hungry but I am at my wits end as he won't eat before he leaves the house.

Have you tried him with something savoury like eggs or something?
  • My little boy is a bit younger than yours

He gets bored of having the same thing all the time, so I do have to vary what I offer.

He had this morning, a banana, a yoghurt and a cracker with pate on.

What time is he being offered breakfast? x

Toast and fromage frais to dip toast fingers into (yes, yuck, my kids loved it though), wee sandwiches, cold pizza fingers, French toast, oatcakes and honey, crackers and cheese, cheese on toast, last night's leftovers, smoothies...doesn't matter really, as long as it's passable for nutrition. No law that says it has to be traditional breakfast food after all.

  • my son is a fussy devil too. we really struggled to get him to eat 3 meals a day, he's more of a grazer and definitely wont eat as soon as he gets up.

he has shreddies, crumpets, and toast on a 3 day cycle during school days and at the weekend he has a sausage sandwich one day and egg on toast another.

i've found he ate better sat at the table and when i sat with him to have some breakfast. breakfast is usually 45-60mins after he gets up

Pancakes? savoury muffuns? Eggs...boiled, fried, poached?

There are lots more ideas on this thread:

Breakfast ideas (apart from toast or cereal).

I'll add this thread to that one later to keep the ideas together.

  • Thank you for your ideas. I never thought of trying things he likes for his tea. He likes garlic bread, i know its not traditionally breakfast but it could work. We have to do breakfast before 7 because of childcare arrangements.

If he likes bananas how about banana bread, it's one of my favourites for breakfast or any other time.:D
