I have cereal at the moment but I sometimes have fried egg on toast with baked beans.
Set the egg to fry and set the timer for 8 minutes and go and do something else, when the timer sounds, put the toast on and the beans to zap if you have a microwave. :T0 -

so sorta like stewed fruit? or just slightly warmed, i'd hate berry soup, i like all sorts of berries cold to nibble of but crumbles/pies can really only be apple for me, i don't like the texture of berries.
Its like neither really, its berries and water and sugar and a bit of lemon juice and arrow root to thicken. If i were forced to describe it i would say like a fruit pie filling but 'looser'. It works on its own or with yoghurt (hot or cold), or a couple of spoons with porridge . Daresay would work with yogurt on some dull muesli instead of milk too.0 -
sounds nice LinR. Might give it a try.0

Well I was born in 'the dark days' before multi-chololate cereals that a lot of supermarkets push at kids today In the winter it was porridge, made with water (I still make it this way) and the top of the milk (if I beat my brothers to it) and a sprinkle of salt.Summer was toast and marmalade with a drink of milk Not many squashes on the market, my Mum wouldn't have liked the idea of orange squash anyway then so it was milk during the day and cocoa at night before bedtime. No snacks between meals as we had breakfast, lunch, and dinner was the main meal in the evening and a cup of cocoa just before bedtime.I think I was about 9 or 10 before I tasted a packet of crisps, I wasn't impressed then, and I still very rarely eat them now, as I just think they are a waste of money.0

Are croissants easy to make?
They take hours, and lots and lots of butter!
I make breakfast 'muffins', they can be frozen and microwaved (or just thawed), or keep for 3-4 days in the fridge.
You can make all sorts of variations, but the basis is like a crustless quiche. Beat 2-3 eggs with milk or cream, pour into silicone muffin tray and bake at about 180c for 20 - 30 mins.
Flavourings - before adding the eggs/milk, first put into the trays any of:
Cooked chopped onion, bacon, sausage, chorizo, smoked haddock.
Grated cheese
Chopped spring onion
Grated, briefly cooked carrot (I microwave it)
Ditto for courgette
Cooked sliced mushrooms
Or anything else you can think of.
You only need to make them once a week, so a few minutes' work for a weeks' worth.
I always add grated cheese because I like it, and often add a slice of cherry tomato to the top.
You can use either individual muffin trays, or a silicone cake 'tin' to make a larger round.
A single muffin (sometimes two) or a slice is enough to keep me going till lunchtime, and also makes a good quick snack or lunch, hot or cold.0 -
Loving the replies, thanks guys.
Just anything pre-cereals really, no specific era in mind.
Looking like porridge was the main breakfast so far.0
