Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 24th June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Raining here today but the washing should be ok on the line under cover, buying my Rotaire cover was money well spent.
DD is coming over later with the foster children, I've bought them all a comic as hubby always takes the DGC to the local shop to buy a comics & we aren't allowed to do the same with the foster children despite us both being CRB checked!
We are having roast chicken with sausages, HG new potatoes, cauliflower cheese & HG peas for lunch with HM chocolate brownies for pudding with icecream. This meal includes something that everyone will eat so should go down well.
All I need to do now is make room for everyone to sit down so I best do some housework, lol.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning all, have been lurking for a while and hope you dont mind if I join in today :)

Its raining here in the south and blowing a gale. Thankfully it was sunny and breezy yesterday so I managed to get 4 loads of washing done and dried on the outdoor line, just need to iron it all today !! (Apart from the towels). Also need to try and check online banking but still unable to log on due to Natwest fiasco

Am getting fed up with my DS (17 yo) complaining theres no food in the house. There is food, it just takes a bit of effort to make something, rather than disposable food he can just shovel in and I am refusing to make snacks for him as hes old enough....
Dinner today will be chicken jambalaya, my first attempt at making it so fingers crossed ... my cooking skills are not great :o and I have a tin of pineapple and some baking basics so am going to attempt pineapple upside down cake

    Morning everyone

Comng out the other side of a horrendous bout D&V that me and H caught from DS. We both were struck down yesterday and ended having to take shifts going back to bed as my parents are away and got no one to take the kids and dogs off us. Let's just say yesterday felt like THE longest day ever.
Puking has stopped but still no appetite and I feel exhausted.
I need to go shopping but can't face it so I may try and do that tomorrow.
House is a tip but no energy to do it :eek: poor h still feeling sick he's not going to be up to much either.

Sorry totally no OS today, am praying things are back to normal tomorrow :o

Hugs and spoons all round xxxx

Skint good luck with your baking :)

Sistercas I have same problem, might look into that Lakeland thingy :rotfl:

Sistercas, Im low carbing too, and the weight is dripping off, instead of the usual fast weight loss, what are you struggling with ? xx

    Morning all,

And Happy Birthday :bdaycake: to the lovely Meanmarie, hope you have a fabby day xxxx

Wet here too, I need to wash the bedding, so that will be draped all over the conservatory, I dont have a TD either, and struggle when it rains.

Dropping dd off to work at 10, then the plan was to cut the hedges and mow the lawns, but will have to see if it brightens up a bit.

Chicken for dinner, the massive ostrich/ chicken from yesterday, which had not defrosted in time, so will cook it today, might do a roast if this weather keeps up.

General tidy through will do for today.

Bitsy, poor you, hope you all start to feel better soon xxx

    Have good days all xx

Hester - Awww that just brought back such fond memories of going to the corner shop with my Grandad to pick up a comic as a kid :D. Have a nice time with them.

    Happy birthday Meanmarie!!!

Bitsy - hope you all feel better soon x

Weather can't seem to make up it's mind, think it will just be cloudy all day so may risk a load in WM. I still have my blooming cough, doing my head in now!

No plans for today yet, going to pop to Aldi this morning to get the new Super6 and other veg. F1 is on so will watch that this afternoon.

OS wise - tidy, hoover, make curry (all the things I didn't do yday :o). Maybe WM.

    Have a good day all

    Morning everyone,

Bitsy Hope that you and OH feel better soon.

Hester That seems like another of those silly rules that I am always coming across in my job. Hope that you enjoy your day.

    Meanmarie Happy Birthday.

DD1 and I are off to church in a moment and I am going to risk pegging the washing out before I go, there are patches of blue in the sky.:D

Quiet day at home today with lots of decluttering to be done.
DS and OH are off to Trent Bridge to watch the cricket this afternoon (fingers crossed for the weather) and When he comes back DS is off to a friends to watch the football. DD2 returns from her netball weekend at about 8pm and I will need to fetch her.......... Did I say a quiet day?

Tea tonight is roast chicken with wedges and salad, don't fancy doing a full on roast.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Good Morning All

    :beer:Many Happy Returns Meanmarie:beer:

Bitsy - that sounds awful, rest and get well today.

Woke up to miserable weather this morning but the sun is trying to break through now :j. Not sure what we are doing for the rest of the day - OH is currently cooking a big fry up :j and we have chicken wraps for later. Have the ironing to do but I have been keeping on top of it so is only what was washed yesterday.

Locally there is a Country Show on, in half a mind to go but it can be soo expensive. Alternatively can have a lazy day :D got loads of housework done yesterday morning and went to a Ladies Garden Party in the afternoon. Was very nice and looks like they raised a lot for Race for Life. Oh decisions decisions.....:rotfl:

    Have a great Sunday all.x
