Hi,
Im not sure which route to take, yesterday i was in an accident, think my car is going to be a write off but the sting in the tail is the other car sped off!:mad::mad::mad::mad:
I need a car for work, i will get next to nothing from the insurance as my car was old (1997) worth about £500. But it was MY car was reliable, never let me down always started 1st time even in the harsh winter.
Been looking at cars today seen a 2004 54 PEUGEOT 307 1.6 HDi 110 S [AC] 5 Door Hatchback got the price down to £3,500 got 67,200 on clock.
Also seen
2003 03 PEUGEOT 206 1.6 Allure [DAC+CC] 5 Door Hatchback

got the price down to £2,500 got 64,600 on clock
Can anyone give me any advice please, checked insurance out and ive got for approx £350 for each.
Sorry for long post and thanks in advance

I'd not really touch anything Peugeot - they cost a lot to fix. Your budget would buy you a very good Ford Focus. They're bullet proof, cheap to maintain and there's plenty around for your money with a decent service history.

We've french cars that cost nothing but brakes, oil, and tyres. Like yours, the "car was reliable, never let me down always started 1st time even in the harsh winter" I'd have a peugeot anyday. What was your car?

I had a Peugeot 307 1.4 hdi. It was eight years old and had done almost 140,000 miles when it was written off (after being hit on the motorway by another car which also sped off). It was a brilliant car, very economical, reliable and comfortable.
However, when I replaced it I went for a temporary solution as, after the accident I wasn't in the right frame of mind to make an expensive decision. I bought another 307 (as this was a car I knew suited me, and saved me from serious injury). This time it was a petrol-low mileage and a nice car-but the fuel consumption is so much poorer than the diesel. Ouch!

Thanks for your input, the peugeot 307 1.6hdi was the 1st one i test drove and i say it was ok, The 206 i test drove straight after and my husband said straight away you are more comfortable driving this arnt you? i said yes it did feel nice but i could have another test drive in the 307 and see how i got on, considering the accident was only yesterday im still very dubious.
Do you think the price is good?
