Advice needed - violent attack by neighbour's dog

Leif, the OP said they got a scratch and a bite. Fair enough I said nip instead of bite because this is patently obvious what it was. Judging by their over exaggeration, if it had been more than that, she would no doubt have described it as 'life threatening injuries'.
No, this is what the OP said: "4 large red scratches across my chest and an open bloody wound to my elbow from a bite". Clearly that was no "scratch and a nip". In my opinion that is serious.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
and let anyone go for my dog at their peril, youd get a lot more than a bite I assure you.
If I felt threatened by a dog, I would give it a good kick the aim being to hurt it. Thus far I have never done so, mainly because I know the fault ultimately lies with the owner, not the dog, but I have given several owners a good earful.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
please do not feed the troll :rotfl:
I have been on the end of a couple of dogs, one being attacked by a GSD when I was a paperboy. That was reported even though it never broke the skin it never the less tore clothing, the police made notes and basically told the owner to control the dog even on their own property, if it even happened again then the dog would be destroyed.
Now I have had dogs for years, they are always kept under control, we have had gsd's ourselves and always kept them muzzled in public and on a tight short leash. They were both very protective of us and our family and even though they were both soft enough to nurture pet mice, I would never not muzzle them in public. I remember coming home early once, sheba didnt hear me come in, she caught sight of me out the corner of her eye and that was it she went straight for me....until I shouted at her but by that time i'd been bowled over.
Our current dog is as soft as grease she is a retreaver x collie same again she plays with our chickens and rabbits etc but should anyone spook her or come into her territory without our say so then she'd have em.You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -

So, don't you have a milkman, postman, etc?0 -
definately agree with reporting owner to police for not controlling her dog.
how would you feel if this incident happens again, and hurts your dogs or god forbid a child?
i have a staffi who is soft as they come, but i would be mortified if she had done this to anyone, she has got out once, and decided to chase a cat, she didnt hurt it or anything, but i was still mortified that i had to chase her up the street and corner her as she wanted to play!
unfortunately the dog is not at fault, i firmly believe that a badly behaved dog is the same as a badly behaved child, its all down to the parent and owner, if a child had attacked your child or the adult had assaulted you, then u would have phoned the police to inform them, this situation needs to be addressed.
did you take photos of the injuries?
just because you phone the police doesnt make they are going to go round and remove the dog, they will probably just go round and warn her of the consequences of her not controlling or training her dog. yes you probably will fall out over this, but if she reacts like she did, then you are probably not missing out on a 'friend' like her! best of luck, hope u get it sorted and that u went to the hospital just to get injuries looked over.0 -
"and let anyone go for my dog at their peril, youd get a lot more than a bite I assure you."
one assumes from this that you are an irresponsible dog owner, well done, just the type of person who shouldnt have a dog. From my post I said if your dog comes for me, who is starting this only you and your poor innocent dog. Which as we see in the press only too often can go a little rogue on unsuspecting kids and older people.0 -
I can see both side of this to an extent but as I live in an area where tourists are frequent in the summer I am tired of them walking past my house (which is on a right of way so no problems with them actually being there) and then screaming, jumping up and down shrieking etc if my dog in MY company and completely under control walks out of the house. That said I expect NOTHING from them as they are the same folk who throw sweet wrappers and let their vile offspring run wild damaging things and causing havoc with the sheep.

No doubt some people behave badly towards dogs, but this thread is about a specific question asked in the first post.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0
