Vodafone contract

I rather naively took out a phone contract which my ex used. I got the direct debit signed over to her bank account and thought nothing more of it until a few weeks ago when a debt collection company got in touch about a £790 bill which she had run up. She has obviously been ignoring their efforts to contact ourselves. The phone was registered at her address but in my name. The contact from the debt company was the 1st I knew of this. I have recently lost my job and despite getting employment quickly after, my earnings are a lot less. I realise I'm probably going to be liable for this bill but does anyone have any advice on how I can keep the ammount I have to pay back down to a minimum payment. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

If you are prepared to pay I think you'll get a better advice on Debt-Free Wannabe board.0

Hi thelions123,
I can appreciate that receiving contact like that must be extremely worrying.
I am afraid that if the contract is under your name, you would be fully liable for the charges even if the direct debit is paid by someone else.
If you would like me to take a look at your options, you can contact me via the address here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject.
If you also include a link to your post and a contact number, I will give you a call to discuss it.
Kind regards,
Heidi
