Parking Eye getting desperate.

  • My local Aldi has got signs up saying parking limited to 1 hour (and only when shopping in Aldi), with no return within 4 hours.

Seems a bit counter-productive, to try to prevent me from doing two lots of shopping at aldi.

I guess they must have more customers, than they can cope with. :p

How does that work if someone else took your car in there after you? ;)

You get a ticket! Happened to my friend - he went in then his wife took the car in later the same day and they got a ticket saying they had stayed for 8 hours! They ignored it on my advice, and begging/pleading/threatening letters have eventually subsided.

I got one after working in a local store - doing a community based safety advice event - I went to the manager and said I wouldn't have minded but I was there working and had shopped in the store after I'd finished. He kindly said 'that's no problem, if you can show me your receipt and you've spent over £80 I will get the fine overturned'. Bloody cheek! Same thing happened to someone else too - again we ignored the tickets and the threats have stopped.

S,hould have grassed them up to trading standards. This, only reading the first in and last out, is illegal. Others have had the book thrown at them.

  • Several years ago, Parked at my local Tesco at about 0830, did some shopping and left at about 0915.

I returned at about 1345, parking at the opposite end of the car park, to do some more shopping.

When I came out, about 20 minutes later, there was some guy in a uniform, writing out a "ticket".

I ask him what he was doing? He replied "you've been here since 8 this morning".

I pointed out that I'd been away and returned, hence my car being parked in a totally different part of the car park.

He ignored me and continued writing, so I just got into my car and drive off.

Don't know if they checked the CCTV or their patrol records, but I never heard anything from them.

Yes, the Church does have permission to operate from the upper floor and even has a section of the carpark allocated to it. Now, seeing as I go up to the cafe run by the church whilst my spouse shops, this does mean I can park anywhere I want to.
Emailed the Council planning dept. last night and 'accidentally' asked about the signs erected in other supermarkets carparks as well.

I love these "enter your reg no" things. I use BOL10X or P155OFF.

If they are basic systems which are designed to only allow 2 letters 2 numbers 3 letters to be inputted they are easily confused when you arrive with a pre sept 01 car or have private plates :o

Nice of them if you forget to buy something or leave something behind.

And also if it's 2 different drivers then the contract falls down, I would love to see something like that go to court

Yes Driver 1 entered at 9:15 and left at 9:30, driver 2 got into the car and entered at 12:00 and left at 12:10 getting some lunch, the 2nd driver did not know where the 1st driver visited therefore the contract saying no returns is void as the 2nd driver wouldn't have known about it.
Judge - Case dismissed, I award defendant costs of £5000 to be paid for by Aldi for harassment.

Also, as someone else has pointed out (possibly on Pepipoo, but I can't take credit), if you are not allowed to return within a certain period, then if you do then this second visit would be Trespass, not Contract Breach.

So, only the landowner or a legal representative could pursue it (and this pre-dates the VCS v HMRC), and only for actual damages (none) or nominal damages (£1). So any PPC ticketing on this basis, really is wasting their time completely.

They really don't think these things through, do they?
