Parking Eye getting desperate.

Went shopping at my local Aldi (Lexden, Colchester) last week and Parking Eye have erected a rather large banner to try and convince the shoppers that they really do only have 3 hours to shop.

Went back today and they have installed cameras to log vehicles coming and going.
Whilst my spouse went to shop, I popped upstairs into the cafe run by 'Kingsland Church' for cup of tea and in the foyer at the foot of the stairs was a sign reminding church-goers to 'enter their reg. no. on the terminal'.
Upstairs was a small touch-screen terminal in a big garish surround. When the counter assistant asked if I had entered my reg. no., I informed him very loudly that I would not be entering my reg. no. and then explained why.

If anyone else is passing by the Lexden, Colchester branch of Aldi and the Kingsland Church (situated above) and wishes to pop in and complain, please be my guest.

Next go in and out after 1/2 hour then go back in again after another hour but stay for the 3 hours. See if you get a ticket for the total time (assuming over the 3 hours). If so a quick contact with trading standards is called for.

I wonder if Parking Spy has got planning permission for their large banner & cameras. Might be worth checking with the local council.

That'd cost more than their scam invoices in fuel!

Incidentally, what are their rules on returning? (I can never be bothered to read any part of their signs)

Signs outside say 3 hours. Notice in foyer of Church says 90 minutes. They can't even get that right.
Don't forget to mention the site is the one with Aldi on the ground floor and Kingsland Church on the top.

Almost forgot. Got another letter published in the Colchester Gazette whisch was headed 'Judge clarifies parking rules' and then mentions the recent missive from Justice Mcilwaine.

Just off to check with Colchester Borough Council as to whether or not Parking Spy have pp for the signs, banner and cameras.

Might be also worth checking to see if any parking restrictions were placed on Aldi when they got PP for the store [if it's a newish store]

The store was originally a Sainsburys, they moved to bigger premises, then MFI moved-in before moving-out to a new site (3 weeks before they went bust) and then Aldi moved-in and rented-out the top floor to Kingsland Church.
It has been a retail site for well-over 30 years and I guess such things as parking restrictions were not really considered back then.

I love these "enter your reg no" things. I use BOL10X or P155OFF.

You know what happens. You get an unenforceable invoice in the post.

I wonder if they have change of use to rent out part to the church?
