I try to keep a stock of water since the floods greent mentioned; we were lucky in this part of the county that we didn't lose our supply, but nothing would make me use water from a bowser after the film I saw of young lads peeing into one of them
my sis had a very bad experience with our water company, their water was brown but water co insisted it was safe to drink! after threats of legal action and the press, they investigated and found their supply pipe was broken and dangling in the mud. They did - eventually - provide her with bottled water but the fiasco continued for weeks.

I would also never drink the bottled water from a water company either having previously found a green residue in the bottles they supplied!

    .

what do you think goes into the rivers and reservoirs? A lot worse than pee. Just get some top of the range filters like those used for expeditions and you can make any water fit to drink

I have these, stored with my wind ups

Thanks Kittie, I am interested in these so I've just checked and they are cheaper on Amazon if anyone wants to buy some.

May save up and buy one and some water purification tablets...are they different or will they do the same thing?

Pity they are so expensive but...they are worth it.

I have a water filter jug in the home for ordinary tap water...must get back to suing it again...I haven't used it in ages... but I have 21 filters sitting there doing nothing...

Because I won't buying a lot of shopping, I am debating whether just to stick with the ruck sack I purchased or if I can get away with a shopping trolley that I can pull with one arm(and still have my walking stick)and only costs around £16 rather than £33(you know the ones that have a larger handle and look more box like......but it holds much more than the pack pack.

Be better for milk, soft drinks etc...bulky, heavy items.

The back pack for odds and ends...small things...

Funny to think if I buy the trolley which is cheaper its costing me about the same as the ruck sack I bought yesterday...

Christmas this year won't mean a great deal as I am sure New Year won't either and will be much like any other day but I'll have a drink, try and play the Christmas music and...I have decided to have one crate in my stock room where even if I eat them after the festive season is over, I will try and buy a few treats.

Perhaps some christmas puds, cakes, biscuits etc...and I will try and cook myself a traditional Christmas lunch with all the trimmings. I haven't much in the way of decorations and I think they could be in the loft so I may not bother with that side of things,

Not expecting many if any cards and I don't really have any to send out ao that isn't to worry about. Perhaps I should be starting to put a kind of hamper together now...I don't suppose I'll have to wait too long before things start coming into the supermarkets etc...

I don't want to be a misery/scrooge so will try and have as nice a time as possible.

yes kittie I'm well aware of what goes into our rivers and reservoirs but that'is filtered and cleaned before it gets to our taps, the bowser was supposed to contain drinking quality water. I'll continue to buy bottled water and keep a pack of water purification tablets on hand as I have done for a long time
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D
