Been a bit of a long week! OH started work at 4am three days this week :eek: Thankfully I managed to get back to sleep again for a couple hours before my alarm went. Plans this weekend is to chill out

Things have settled rather well at home which is great. Hopefully stay that way for a while.

Ever feel a bit :eek: :mad: :wall: with certain members of your family?! Kinda feeling like that today. Same person as the 'issue' was with a month ago. Think I've just got to the point where I don't want to know, nor be bothered, nor anything, any more. My only reason for hanging on is coz of her kids (I miss them! ), and coz of my mum and dad (they're heartbroken things are bad with me and sis )

I dunno what to do. Very little has actually happened or been said between me and sister. We've just got very different lives, very different personalities, very different opinions, and very different morals. Even when we lived at home there was always something of a personality clash!

Last time we spoke the idea was for us to basically 'forgive and forget'. Ignore anything that's happened in the past. Start again. And move forward. At the time I agreed coz it would be 'nice'. Now I've lost any interest in trying.

I know a lot of what needs to happen is a choice or mind-over-matter sorta thing. I get that. I think my problem is that I know for a fact that it'll only be a 50% commitment from me. I know I won't try 100% coz of stuff in the past. And there are certain things I know for a fact I won't let drop. It can't and won't ever be 'great'. So is there any point trying at all?! For the kids sake? Absolutely. But I know there's always gonna be a black veil hung over me, no matter what. I dunno if I can hack getting hurt again...

(Sorry! Rant over! Think I needed to get that off my chest....!)

Sorry to hear things aren't great with your sis again . Think there comes a point though where you just have to realise that no matter what you do you will never be best buds, and just concentrate on you and your little family. As you say, you need to be civil for her kiddies and your parents, but you don't need to put yourself out more than that.

Yeah I think you're right lucky *sigh* Just do what I have to do in regards to my sister. I've a birthday pressie for my niece and nephew here, and a wee outfit for my new niece, but I don't think I can actually bring myself to go visit! I may have to get someone else to pass them on, or else just post them!

Meantime, I'm staying put and looking after my own family! They're my priority!

There are fireworks again tomorrow night, this time in Portrush, so want to go see them with OH
Plus I've a girlie night on Tuesday to look forward to - going to see The Heat with my friends!

Firstly... sorry! I disappeared on you. You've been kind enough to post in my diary and I wasn't even here to see it. So much for you being the one who didn't manage to pop in eh?!?!

I've been hectic super busy without actually managing to make any headway on anything. In laws are driving me up the wall, parents are also doing my head in a little bit the last few days & overall everyone seems to be pleasing themselves when it comes to doing things related to us. Have upset the MIL tonight as have written on fb that I am writing a list of all presents we would like for Christmas for Jellytot. 2 people asked me in the last 2 days what she would like, followed by DH saying his mother has already started, by buying one thing we do NOT need any more of... a cuddly toy WE HAVE NO ROOM! So, if it's not on the list, with the exception of said blummin toy, then it is NOT coming in. We are in a 2 bed flat, which is bursting at the seams already.

Enough of that rant, on to sisters. I've not seen or spoken to my younger sister since Boxing Day 2009. Sounds like a very similar situation to yours in that she did a lot of unforgiveable things. It all came to a head after she had been planning a huge wedding with nieces & nephews all roped in & excited about it all, followed by a 6 month silence then a calculated phone call telling my parents that she was getting married in 4 weeks time & didn't want any of us there. No explanations, it was all planned around hurting us to the maximum, & I know this because she had done similar things in the past. So, I gave up. She doesn't know my daughter exists. As far as she knows, I am pretty much infertile, so she would never assume I had a daughter. I did try & get in touch with her via twitter to let her know when I got pregnant but she blocked me. I also have an older brother, whose wife completely poisoned his 3 children against us. I've not seen the younger 2, ever, and the oldest was 3 the last time I saw her and is now 20! You may come across the same problem, there. You can buy presents and try and keep in their lives, but she is their mum and what she says about you will always be believed.

Sometimes you just have to agree to go your separate ways with things. The fact that your sister gets on with the rest of your family fine, just means that you have to see her more often than you would choose, at family events etc. Be polite, treat her like a stranger you're not particularly interested in. Give her no information on you & your family & just small talk around things like new salad tongs etc. That is basically the way I deal with my eldest brother, and all of my work colleagues... lol.

Anyways, hope you are well! I hope to be back around soon but I am dieting & it is currently leaving me a bit tired as I adjust to a severe drop in sugar levels! This is the latest I have been up in a while, & I will probably pay for it in the morning and nap for the 3 hours Jelly does tomorrow afternoon haha! Still, 5lbs down in a week has to be good!

And thank you for sharing your story too! I'm sure it must have been, and still is, very hard, especially where the kids are concerned! It's not fair on them, as it's got nothing to do with them, yet in a way they're missing out because of it. I think that's what's getting to me more than anything I actually had a nightmare a few months ago: the kids didn't know me and were running away from me! Broke my heart :(

My friend has a good setup: in the run up to crimbo, if the kids are getting, say, 3 toys from santa, they have to pick 3 of their own toys that they don't want any more to give to kids who aren't getting anything. Also makes room for the new stuff! Works a treat!

Very well done on the weight loss! :T 5lbs in one week is fantastic! I'm not surprised you're tired with the lack of sugar! Stick at it though and keep up the good work!

Had a really good/hectic weekend! Out for a 14 mile cycle Saturday morning. Went the Riverfest in town for an hour in the afternoon. Coffee then fireworks at night. Sunday fairly lazy, but then out at a wedding do last night Once I got there I decided to ditch the car so was able to have a couple drinks. Home before 12 though coz working today

Start of another week! 3 birthdays this week so gotta make sure all cards are posted on time!

I have Saturday to look forward to too. Taking the girls to this local beauty salon, and we're all having 2 treatments done (combination of eyelashes, facial, massage, manicure sorta thing) in an hour. Because I booked it as a 'group', we're all seen at the same time, we get a private room to chill out in after the treatments, and we get juice and chocolate!!
I think after everything the girls have been through recently it's perfect! Plus it's 2 of their birthdays next week so timing couldn't be better! Saves me trying to think what to buy!! lol
