RANT - Selling things to 'friends'

24

Comments

  • I'm honestly not into reselling it's alot of hassle - trying to sell an electric wheelchair for my nana someone genuinely offered £100!!!

More importantly with this I bought it with the surestart maternity grant - so the money wasnt mine anyway

The £25 was to buy a stroller for my lil one.

My annoyance is in trying to help someone out and then they just take the mick.

I still don;t get why you won;t take it back and make yourself more money. Surely that's a no-brainer? Aren;t you cutting off your nose to spite your own face just because you don;t want to do what she wants?

I'd assumed that the OP was letting it go for a nominal sum when approached by diva buyer precisely because she wanted to avoid the hassle of dealing with the vagaries of buyers, which is why it has sat there in the corner for such a long time.

Totally agree I hate selling things to friends I had a UV nail gel kit with lamp etc like you get in salons my mate is into doing nails and broke her lamp so told her she could buy mine off me, bare in mind that the bulbs for it are £5 each and my lamp had only been used twice since I bought it.

I asked for £20 with all the kit gel, nails, files, tips etc etc she said how much without the kit just lamp so I said £15 I paid more than £50 for it. So she gave me the £20 and I gave her the lamp and what I could find of the kit in hope I would find more of the kit when I have a clear out.

She then asked me to order some things for her off ebay as she didn't want her nan to find out (she lives with her grandparents) so I did and she now owes me £5, she then txt me today asking if I've found the rest of the kit because she wants to do her nails.

I've had a lot on the last few weeks and the rest of the kit which I think is just tips I need to find now has been the least of my worries.

Never again will I sell to friends ebay here I come

There are many people who expect something for nothing, and will risk friendships - proving that they are not a friend in the first place.
We had a friend like this, someone who need a worktop for their kitchen. I had nearly two metres - about £200 - of worktop, and said he could have it for £20.
He has the worktop, I do not have my £20, and I am not interested in talking to him any more.
Life is too short to put up with leeches.

Nail on the head! I won't even do a car boot sale, I pretty much give things away (although the pram was the most expensive things I own!) I needed the cash for a simple stroller so I thought it was fair
Maybe not now I don't know!

I just don't know how you can say x,y,z about something you've owned for nearly 3 weeks

If i was you i would think of it as a favour, get it back and sell it on ebay, you will easily make 4 times that amount you sold it to her for. I think i like another posted said, she probably wanted it for free and is pis sed you didn't just give it to her. Some people are so grasping it's unreal.

    Thanks!

I thought "phil & ted" was rhyming slang for a bed. I got even more confused when something about wheels was mentioned.
