How often do you back up?

I back up every day THRICE insofar as I work all my files into a cloud drive (which also saves on my hardrive), then back up onto USB sticks at the end of every day.
The thought of repeating even a days work seems heartbreaking, so i keep in the clear0 -
Data backup should be as regular as pills). One of the best options - to back up your data once a week on weekends.))0

This is a long shot but, does anyone know of how to get backuppc working for Linux?
There's something wrong with my systems privileges and never seems to work for me.
Got the basic ones for my VPS working but be handy for anything outside of my clients managed virtual hosts to keep them backed up too (like trial modifications to various projects I am working on etc).
Any help's of course appreciated in advance,
JeremyDoing some indepth analysis of my outgoings it's a real eye opener!
I find if I keep paying by card and keeping the receipts insisting that I have them from the shop, then itemising them when I get home on excel makes my life a whooole lot easier!0 -
I use Microsoft SyncToy, its a free program from Microsoft. It allows you to sync files and fodlers between two areas.
For example: I can plug in an external hard drive, and run synctoy, it will look at my pc and this external drive and update the external drive with any files it finds onthe pc that aren't on the external. Not the greatest backup solution, but having files in 2 locations, protects if the pc dies/stolen or there's a fire in the house (as long as you dont store the extrernal next to the pc).0 -
never. sometimes only those file which i think need to be saved.0

To the person that suggested 2 different forms of backup - absolutely!
I recommend an online backup service such as Carbonite if you only have 1 computer. It's not expensive (under $50 US per year) and is unlimited. It's helped me restore data for people that would have been lost otherwise, including a person who deleted everything in My Documents cos they were sure it wasn't "their" documents! (Yes it was!)
Depending on how much data you have to back up, DVDs can be a cheap way of backing up up to 4.7Gb at a time.
But when you have massive hard drives, the only way you can really back up a 2Tb disc locally is with another 2Tb disc.
This is where the new USB 3.0 drives come in. If your computer has a USB 3.0 socket (generally they look like USB 2 but are often coloured blue) it runs MUCH faster, so plugging in and backing up to an external hard disc is no longer an all-day affair!
Just remember: There are only 2 sorts of people in the world, those who've lost stuff because they didn't back it up, and those who will lose stuff because they haven't backed it up!0 -
Not as often as I should, but I will start to in the future :money:0

Windows 8 and 8.1 users can make use of the File History function that comes with the computer to make regular backups to an attached external hard drive. More details here:
