Assuming you're struggling with Firewire, that is.
She doesn't have a FireWire input.0 -
I see, but if there's not Win7 USB drivers made then firewire is the only other way around it I guess.

Hi,
I am having the same problem, and from what i can gather it is common!!
I also have an old sony handycam.
Even bought one of those firewire port cardbus thingys (pcmcia) but then finally realised its the windows 7 that is the prob  as well so handycam is pretty useless i think.
Let us know how you get on with xp, my pc has xp but no port for firewire or cardbus
Its been driving me bonkers for weeks!0 -

There should be no such problem if you use FireWire. What is occurring?0 -
Firewire and Windows7 is notoriously unreliable or unusable for many people.
I've had this problem myself and a bit of googling reveals many people suffering, it seems that many firewire cards aren't properly supported in Windows7 and Microsoft have given up on further support.
Some people with Windows 7 issues have success by changing the firewire driver to 'legacy firewire' - google it and you'll see.

I have just tried my old camcorder on the laptop with windows 7.
The computer is unable to find them and it cannot read the old disc.
It cannot find the camcorder when connected to the computer.
The km drivers cd (km driver pack) tends to be one of the better solutions ive umpteen 50,000 driver cds and 100,000 driver cds but when the shi.t hits the fan thats the one i fire up,
