Kidney bean recipes????

  • I like them mixed with tuna into salads etc.

Did make a nice bean pate/ pitta filling the other day using pinto beans, am sure could use kidney beans instead.

Fry a little chopped onion, add beans, sprinkle of stock powder, pinch of all purpose seasoning, splash water to loosen, then stir through a tbsp mango chutney and cook until liquid gone, stuff into pittas or similar. Was a fridge raid dinner and surprisingly tasty!

Try mixing with a can of baked beans and a little chilli powder for a healthy, tasty filler for baked potatoes - will keep in the fridge for 2-3 days - just add a little water if it starts to look dry :)

I know you said you don't have room in the freezer for another chilli, but the drained beans in a plastic bag wouldn't take up much room until the next time you want to make chilli?
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

Do you mean in the freezer? Do they freeze well?

The baked bean idea sounds good, as does the tuna salad.

What about a bean burger? Fry off an onion, garlic, crated carrot then season generously and spices of your choice. Add the beans and mash together, then form into a burger/burgers dust with flour and open freeze...... yummy!

I like to mix kidney beans with some grated cheese, chopped spring onion and mayo, then use as a filling for wraps.

I like to mix kidney beans with sweetcorn, celery, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, black olives and plenty of black pepper for a healthy and delicious lunch.
