Hi all,
I just noticed for last 2 month I had been charged the interest on:
Transaction Type: Cash advance
for no reason, as I never withdraw cash from credit card - I am not stupid to withdraw money from credit card.
The sum is not big, but it's no reason for it!
I phoned the Tesco Bank and they refunded all the fees, as the operator could not find any reason for the charges and stated that they recently changed the system and probably a new system charge customer - so unprofessional excuse, as normally the human being operating devices (computers, cars, etc..) not opposite!!!
Simply beware of any charges from Tesco Bank, as the company going downhill and will be ripping off the customers:
Every little help - Every little charge

CC's are now treating gambling sites as cash advances, so any transactions to poker sites, casinos , bookies etc all count as cash. Maybe you used your card in one of those. or it was a mistake that has now been rectified. Hardly a rip off we should all be concerned about.0

Don't use such websites, the sum is too low for cash advance payment, as it seems to me random charge for 2 months.0 -
Illegal? No. Nobody's going to prison for it.
Mistakes happen, and they've refunded the charges. It just goes to show that everyone should study their monthly statements with a fine tooth comb.0 -
The changover only happened 1 months ago, so I doubt it was that. If you don't have any cash withdrawls then it would be either a gambling site or a charity site. Check your transactions and make sure someone else isn't using your card.0

..........or purchasing gift tokens/cards or travellers cheques?0

The worrying thing for me is that the OP asked Tesco to explain the charge. Tesco wasn't able to and then refunded the charge.
It's got nothing to do with gambling sites or whatever Tesco classify as 'cash withdrawals' now.
It's all to do with a credit company being unable to explain why it's charging a customer.
I'd be asking senior management to explain precisely why I've been charged if it happened to me.0 -
In my experience their Senior Managers are equally clueless..and more worrying in my experience is that they just didn't care..Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.0

I don't buy any gift tokens/cards or travellers cheques, as it's pointless, as I can give a cash gift and friends will decide where and how they want to spent their money, instead of specific and useless place.
theft n. the generic term for all crimes in which a person intentionally and fraudulently takes personal property of another without permission or consent and with the intent to convert it to the taker's use (including potential sale).
Somehow I don't think TESCO were doing that !!!0 -
I don't think Tesco Bank is deliberately fraudulent, they're just hopelessly incompetent..I work for the company that Benny Higgins used to lead and we got into all sorts of trouble until he left..Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.0
