Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 21st June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all,

Rain here and has been most of the night, off to work today, and have go go to a meeting in London, so lots of travel today, which wears you out.

Something with chips for tea, think it might be burgers, I will not have the chips.

Not sure what time I will be home, but if I get chance I will put a wash on.

Meant to say yesterday its not my OH looking for a job he has one, dd has been looking for a part time job to fit in around college for ages, she now has one, and another has been offered, they are like buses :D

Taplady, my heart goes our to your friends, what a terribly sad situation, xxxx

Have good days all xx

Good Morning Ruby, Moorhen and all to follow.

Absolutely torrential rain :( have 4 teenagers sleeping in the summerhouse at the moment - they will get soaked just getting to the house. They were all very good last night and a pleasure to have.

Not sure what they are doing today, guess at some point they will need breakfast, have enough bread and bacon in.

For the rest of the day I shall just potter around - seem to get more done that way. Easy dinner of burger and chips for OH, DS and me - DD has a shift at the chip shop and will eat there.

Going to have a look at the forcast now and see how long this rain is on for.

    Have a good day.x

Morning all, wet here too, knew the sun wouldn't last:( Jack walked and fed , the kitten has been fed and is now attacking his soft toy. Lamb for dinner, hope DD/DS will cook. School is hectic at the moment so I'm shattered when I get home. Will try to put a wash on tonight and fold some laundry:eek:
Hugs to all in need, special thoughts for your friends Taplady hope they find the strength to carry on. Hope you have a better day at work HH. Have a good day all:)

    Morning everyone

Taplady - such a sad situation, sending love and hugs x

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Had a lovely text to say my best friend has given birth to a beautiful boy at midday yesterday, mum and baby doing well. It really brightened my day and always makes me think as we lose someone we get another new addition.

Raining steadily and is very wet underfoot, dark and dreich! DH up and off to work at stupid early.

Dinner last night was roast pork, mash, carrots, broccolli, green beans, peas, yorkshires and gravy - pork was excellent, managed to get a good crackling on the outside (or so I'm told by the menfolk!). Put the BM on so the bread was ready at 6am this morning, woke up to the delicious smell of freshly baked bread, boys have eaten some for brekkie and are taking some for lunches. Dinner tonight will be fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.

I'm now on days' off, so have the normal "to do" list. Need to do the housework, washing, drying and ironing, fortunately I've been doing the washing and getting it dry on line over the last 2-3 days so there is some but not too much, will need to use the TD today though. First thing this morning I will be heading to the hairdressers, hair has all of sudden really grown and it's in dire need of a good cut and tidy up, once I've done that I'll carry on to the train station in the nearby town and see if I can collect the train tickets I've bought on-line - ready for when we go to Scotland in the summer and DS1 is following us up via train with his friend and his mum due to them coming back from his adventure holiday after we've already left! Will hopefully get menu plan done, and shopping list too, wrote a list last week and duly left it at home, did manage to remember everything on the list and more besides, course! Will be endeavouring to get some baking/cooking done too, as there's been no complaints of "there's nothing to eat in this house"!

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

Rain here but it saves me watering the veggies and for the moment it's not torrential.

H found out yesterday he is up for redundancy, 3 jobs will become one (which is both pathetic and ridiculous for the poor !!!!!! unlucky enough to get the job). As he's the only wage earner in the house yesterday afternoon was spent in a flux of panic and positive thinking :rotfl:
anyway discussions and plans are afoot regarding a new direction in our lives and this might just turn out to be a big blessing rather than a curse. Those of you who are FB please don't mention this on there, I have nosey family on there ;)

Anyway today will be an ironing day as I have two massive baskets full. H has next two days off so he's going to sign up for some agencies as a sort of safety net.

Hugs and spoons all round xxx
Not sure about tea, might do some sort of stir fry.

 morning everyone - don't often pop in but thought I'd have a 'nosy' ;)

raining here, 'quick' college trip this morning, lots of correspondence & sorting bits that are half done or waiting for replies so may need to phone around chasing people. I need to get on with it as it's starting to get bitty. Still, can't get out in the garden!

Might get some ironing done this afternoon, then prep the dinner - whatever that will be as I've no idea yet.

Anyway, hugs to those that need them................and to those that don't :)

that seems to sum up senior management team totally except when it comes to them. We have been desperately understaffed for the last two years yet expected todo twice the work. Like a mug i've been trying to keep up, missing out on 15 days holiday last year which i cant carry over. From some news at work yesterday i realise this counts for diddly squid. My old line manager yesterday told me to sayno to ALL new work so at least i feel i have an ally in him.

    Morning :hello:

Bitsy mr tru doesn't exactly love his job. Maybe we should carry out our plan from ages ago - remember it? The huge field, selling fruit, veg and eggs, craft lessons, kids adventure/nature walks...............bliss :D You can do the kid part, I'm no good with them, lol.

A champagne bottle exploded yesterday, it was quite spectacular :D I've stored the bottles in an old guinea pig cage, so most of the glass was contained. But one piece shot across the garden and I can't find it so I've told everyone not to walk on the grass barefoot.

I was treated to a show in my garden yesterday - dove !!!!!! Right out in the open, up near the house, on the chicken fence  :rotfl: Mogs and Pepper were traumatised I think, they ran to the bottom of the garden, jumped the fence and landed on the veg patch :D

I'm having a day off. My mum and dad are back from their holiday today so they're popping in later for a cuppa. Apart from that, I'm just pottering about.

    morning all

    Wet here today..............

    Tappers thinking of your friends.

Bitsey (hugs). My DH has been under threat of redundancy too since January but was taken off the at risk list a month or so ago. He is nearly 61 and wants to go......recently VR became a possibility so others could stay. He has his fingers crossed! He is currently the wage earner on four days a week as I'm not working atm.

    Good luck with your plans.

I am more resigned to bedroom decorating now, we have bought a bed so will choose a carpet this weekend..........plasterer starts Monday...I may go out for the day. :rotfl:i need a bribe as DH is doing train club stuff at short notice on Sunday.

Having a potter day I have some voluntary stuff to do ..food bank.. on the computer and cooking chicken in bbq sauce requested by DS. There is a hm loaf in the kitchen;)

    Have a good day all.
