My wife requested a statement of reasons back in March for a DLA decision, do they always take this long to reply ?

Nope, should be a matter of days. However, I too requested a statement of reasons very clearly twice on the telephone but was in fact sent the ATOS medical report. I haven't done anything about this as yet (and should have done) but I have the date and time of the call noted and if I decide to dispute the award given then effectively the time for an appeal is still open as I was not sent the actual statement of reasons that I requested.
I would get onto the phone to them if you really want it though, as I said, I would think it would take no longer than a week or so but others here will no doubt know better.0 -
I also had problems getting hold of my SOR (in fact, I never got it). here is the thread I started after speaking to someone from DWP.

How was the request made, and was it acknowledged (verbally, in writing)? There was a point last year when (nearly!) everything ESA related seemed to be up to date, but now the delays have returned to what they were at the beginning.
Give them a call, check the request is in the system.0 -
My wife has phoned them up every two weeks since requesting it by letter, apparently they have the reasons but the judge has not signed it yet.0

a judge doesnt sign a statement of reasons, its a printed off explanation of hiw the decision was reached by the decision maker who lookedat your case. a judge is not involved.0

Sorry I should have explained that the SOR was from a DLA appeal so a judges signature is required.0 -
Are you calling HMCTS directly? If not, give them a call, (usually) far more efficient than the DWP. If you have spoken to them, I would put in a complaint to HMCTS.0

We have only been calling the appeals service as that is where the statement is coming from0
