(Off topic I know) I get more frustrated at parents who choose to ignore the traffic lights at pelican crossings whilst with their children, you see them often running across the road with the redman standing because they feel its safe
    Ohh, I agree.
As a sensible adult, I am perfectly able to cross a crossing when it is clear without waiting for a green man.
But if there's a concious child around then I'll wait.

    LOL, bazster.

    Reality check for you.

In the real world children have been known to continue to do things their parents have told them not to do.

Well if you can't discipline them you need to supervise them. Parents' responsibility either way.

This is why I would NOT allow my child in the kitchen unattended. He would not get an opportunity to climb up the kitchen cupboards, especially with any sort of kettle or hot pan that he may stroke his leg across, panic and knock it over as a result.

There is not a chance on Earth I would allow him to climb the Kitchen units for anything. I don't do it, the Mrs doesn't and he could not even attempt to, not unless he had somehow been allowed into the Kitchen unattended where he might just try it.

Many a time have I answered the door, only to find him climbing up the shelving units, crawling behind the television or chewing on electric cables. All potentially fatal, all of which results in a telling off until it happens again.

This is all the more reason I would not allow him free reign in the Kitchen, where he could get onto the units, could grab or knock over that kettle, could pull over that fryer, grab a knife, turn on the hobs, etc etc.

The very idea of him being in such a predicament that he might rub the kettle with his leg and knock it over, is just not possible as he is NOT allowed or able to get in the Kitchen without supervision. Even with supervision, there is no way he is allowed to climb up the units.

Perzackly. At least someone appreciates his own responsibilities instead of just wringing his hands and whining "but they just do it anyway, what can I do...?"

Not only did I manage to survive this death trap, my first visit to A&E for injury came at 17 when I cut myself badly whilst ratarsed.

What did you cut yourself on? Did you sue?

I don't think any decent parent would allow a child of that age free reign in a kitchen. Accidents can happen though, even when you're with them.

They might accidentally climb onto the worktop and accidentally start playing football with a boiling kettle, perchance?

I was hoping to have a a read of the thread but it seems the OP has decided to delete the OP.

The OP was complaining that the water coming out of a hot tap was hot.

Make sure it's padded. With fireproof, non-allergenic padding.
