Frump to Fab - Sizzling Summer Solstice to Awesome Autumn Equinox

Hi everyone , haven't been awol, just on holiday. Much catching up to do with all the posts. Loving your last positive post LL, glad to see you are feeling better with your new project and sorry to read all you have been through. Liking your summer challenges WW - I really must do something like that too
For me work is the answer to my woes. If I am physically able I love to work - doing something mindless and physical - stops me thinking and fretting too much.
Well done on the weight loss.
Anyway just a quickie to let you know my dad rang last night, nice as pie as if nothing had happened. Didn't apologise or even refer to our upset. He is so thick-skinned - he has the hide of a rhino.
He had the audacity to ask when I was going to see them because "we do love to see you". I nearly choked with laughter - not whilst talking to him though I just played it. DS2 and I had a right old chuckle.
My sister has been up today and mum is fine so he can wait until I'm good and ready. Actually I do have a packed diary next week so I do have a perfectly legitimate excuse.
I saw a really pretty cottage for sale on the web. It's in a lovely village on the north side of the county - the area I would like to move back to. DS2 fell in love with it too. It's a perfect "project" in need of TLC. I was debating whether or not to view it bearing in mind my house is not yet on the market.
My sister rang me to tell me she had viewed a cottage in the very same village. I laughed and said was it on "such and such lane by any chance". Of course it was the same house - great minds think alike.:rotfl:
She's put a cheeky offer in and the vendors are mulling it over. At least it will be "in the family" if she gets it. I don't mind because my plans are not really that advanced yet. There will be others.
Isn't life funny at times.0 -
LL - you're certainly cut from the same cloth! The cottage sounds lovely.
The dogs got me out of bed at 7am for a wee so I'm up and sneezing waiting for the antihistamines to kick in - normally thats a good sign for the weather though so fingers crossed.
I'm going to take them for a good walk on a heritage trail around a pretty village and lake in Cheshire this morning - its only about 15 mins drive from me but like a different world compared to the city. Its only about 4 miles so the dogs shoud be fine as long as I take them early before it gets too warm (fat chance!).
I found my little book of walks in Cheshire and so have some ideas for future strolls.
The rest of the day will be taken up with a bit of schoolwork, mowing the front lawn if the weather holds and cleaning upstairs. And its back on the diet and exercise wagon today after last night's excesses:o I need to try to do the Couch to 5K end of week 2 run today if I'm going to stay on schedule.
Right, enough faffing about lets get the day started.:)0 -
Morning everyone. I'm back from my holidays. Had a great week with great weather too and was very relaxing and enjoyable with some very challenging bike rides!
Took measurements and all have stayed the same which is good for holidays and have eaten plenty! Apart from a little bit gone from the waistline - result!
What else, cellar is still mega damp but all the water has gone. Today will be lots of walking, cleaning and tidying up and also tidying myself up too. I'm sat here with a hair pack on atm
Then from tomorrow will get back to Shred and finish L1 next week and continue with the exercise plan for another week

Thanks, but far from a skinny minny lol :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Still have another good stone to lose, but that's fine. It's coming off slowly and will hopefully stay off this time.

Your holiday sounds great, I've forgotten where you went? Fabbing already with a hair mask is dedication. I really should get up and do something. My excuse is ds is still asleep and if I start doing much it'll wake him up

podperson i will check good old asda next week. i only want to lose 1 dress size so will just take stuff in. i just bought a bundle of 4 nice shirts off ebay, really not fussed about wearing someone's old carp
ll what a coincidence! maybe when you sell your house she'll let you stay with her while you look for a new place in exchange for helping do it up?
evilsquid good to see you're on the way up now
((hugs)) madrabbit
fedupandksint awsome glad you hadagood time!
Evening all. I did okay friday but muscles were so sore yesterday I just had a long walk. Going for another walk again in a mo and will do a quick workout later too. I'm really bloated this morning, think it might have been the slice of bread and butter at 10pm last nightLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Good morning all
We have sunshine:j:j
So will skip the painting today and get out in the garden. The ivy is nearly up to the eaves and I don't like it to choke the guttering so we'll get on that today. Also prune some of the seriously overgrown shrubs, managed to mow the front lawn the other day but not the edges so - plenty to do.
But first - some yoga stretches - so stiff from yesterday's exertions, then a good old traditional Sunday breakfast, bacon, eggs, orange juice, coffee the lot. You can't beat a "full English".
Have a great day, hope the weather is good.
Today is St Swithin's Day - legend has it today's weather sets the tone for the summer. If it remains dry then that's a sign of good weather to come. If it rains then we're in for 40 days rain:eek::eek: I don't think we need much more rain.
WW - let's hope your hay fever is a good barometer.:rotfl:
My new thing for this week - apart from working like a demon on the house:D - Some clothes shopping.
I've been through my summer clothes, some of my T shirts are looking a bit jaded. I shall relegate them to "round the house wear" and treat myself to a few new t-shirts and tops.
Any good sales on???
I know I don't have school age children any more but I still often plan my summers in those terms. Because the children break up from school this week I tend to think that this is the week when high summer should really kick in. Let's hope so - I do hope that the weather finally gets in gear.0 -
LL yup loads, think matalan is the best one I can think of. Next sale is on too but imo it's overrated and expensive.
eta: I'm mostly just curious, do you just do up these places to your own spec then flog them or do you have a buyer that you give a say in what you do with them? I know a few people who have been trying to buy run down places for ages but are being out bid by developers paying way more than the places are worth and turning them into generic magnolia places full of box rooms. My cousin is doing it because he can't afford a nice place and can do the work himself but most want one as they are sick of boring new builds round our area of Brum and want a unique layout that suits them.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Struggling to try to keep up, given up at the top of this page as I am due to go out. Erm 10 minutes ago now!.
I am feeling better. managed to find the scales that I thought were gone, and fix them etc. Surprised I only weighed in at 9st 8.8lb. Yeah!
Thats less then the last time at just over 10 stone. (Many months ago). Moving around a bit more must be helping. I confess I dont exercise! Hurts the parts that hurt too much.
Have had a few compliments of late since wearing shorter dresses and skirts etc. From nice legs, wish my bum was as good, and you look younger etc. So feeling better with it all.
But I am going to be going to Portugal in a month, late decision on a holiday, after all this wet weather. So I will need to be a bit more body beautiful I think.
Right got to go.
Good luck with the fabbing. Hope the family issues are easing soon LL.
Still need to read the long list WW.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Well I am officially pooped!
Today's exercise has been - 4 mile walk with the dogs, mowing the lawn (and neighbour's who's daughter is in hospital, thought it may give her one less thing to worry about), house cleaning, 25 min dog walk and then to finish it all off I did the last week 2 Couch to 5K run. Not sure that others would strictly call it running but I do trot along gasping and sweating so it must be doing some good?
I bought some new running shoes in the sale today so had to try them out - quite comfy considering they are new.
I also got some bargains for Dad's birthday next week - 2 pairs of golf trousers and 2 golf shirts all at 70% off! My sister has given me some money to get her a pressie for Dad so we'll split the lot and give him a nice bundle to open. He rang from Majorca earlier and its boiling hot and he'd just woken up after a snooze on a sun lounger by the pool - its just not fair is it:(
Going to have a bit of a flop in front of the telly now in a peel off face mask and file my nails. Its hard work, this fabbing lark!0
