Dear Jimmy - very generous of you. So let me know your charity (you can do it here) and instead of the champagne, I'll donate £50

    Thanks Martin.

The charity I would like the money to go to is LAM Action (http://lamaction.org/).

It is a cause close to my heart after my cousin's wife died from this disease in December 2008, aged just 32. For those who are interested, my cousin's blog diary from the time has been published as a book called "Breath Easy" (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Breathe-Easy-Paul-Arnold/dp/160976336X).

    Thanks,
    Jim

Nothing charming about it, per-se. I think Martin just meant the answer is quite nice rather than a contrived mathematical sequence where you can only guess at the pattern from the information given and the explanation doesn't include why it starts at 106. (I.e. "4 numbers in a row" isn't charming but "HD channel numbers on sky in order starting with the first" is.)
Don't really see that myself. I did consider the TV Series "Charmed" but that never appeared on ITV AFAIK.

    110 is gold!

Well done Jim for suggesting a donation to such a worthwhile cause :T

Martin stated "the answer has charm" so was wondering how 118 ITV2 HD has "charm".

Jimmy, you are a kind gentleman for requesting a donation to charity instead of your prize, I hope karma will one day repay you for your generosity.

I meant charm as in, once you know the answer it fits neatly. As opposed to trying to gemmy some maths to fit. I hope no one is too frustrated about this, it was just a bit of fun.

He was the first to come up with the correct answer (though it was phrased slightly better later).

    The answer is 118.

The list is the HD channel numbers on sky in order starting with the first and the next one on the list is 118.

Congratulations Jimmy, pls pm me your address and we'll send the champagne.

    Martin

Hardly fair on the 'slightly behind the times' viewers who don't subscribe to SKY (other paid services are available!)

Extremely frustrated. Especially since I'd already looked at the wikipedia page that JimmyTheWig linked to, but didn't notice the connection.

Even so I hope you've got someone working on next week's.

You are making this a regular feature on the weekly newsletter? :D (not bothered about the prize but a bit of friendly competition amongst fellow MSE'rs)
