I guess if it was the Euros final, I might understand them feeling a bit annoyed. I'd never say anything though. That crosses a line. Equally, I'd be really disappointed if I had to miss something like the 100m final in the Olympics. Obviously I'd pick the wedding, I'm not saying it would be a choice not to go, but I'd think it was a real shame not to see it live. Again, I think whining on fb is rude either way.:happyhear0

my first wedding ended up being on the day of a big England v Germany game. It was a massive game, but was announced well after we had organised the wedding. To make matters worse, our wedding was at 3pm, kick off time :rotfl:
we both were/are into our football so were a bit disappointed :rotfl: but in the end we asked the venue to have the radio on in the bar next to the room where we had our dinner. The more interested chaps popped back and forwards, and it ended up being brilliant as England beat Germany 5-1 :eek: and so it made for a hell of a party in the evening.
my ex hubby even referred to the current score in his speech and did the "and if you don't want to know the score, look away now" line.
I would try and avoid big cup finals and world cup years/Euros etc, and end of season weeks, but the ultimate no no for me if I got married again would be a Sunday wedding - MotoGP/BSB race day. No WAY

I went to a wedding on the day of that match and the bride & groom had
arranged a room with a tv so that those that wanted to could watch the match.
Everyone, including the bride and groom, watched at least some of the match and no-one felt that obligated to make small talk (as sometimes is the case) to people2014 Target;

There will only be 1 wedding (hopefully) but several games within the season to watch.
If Steelers play Panthers on 15th September my guestlist may be a lot shorter than it currently is :rotfl:0 -
I've been to a wedding reception that was ruined by an England match being on, they accommodated the people that wanted to watch the match by having the match on a big screen in another room, nearly everyone except a few elderly relatives left the do and went to watch the footy and didn't go back into the reception as there was a bar in the footy room, a lovely day spoilt .
I really felt felt for the bride she had tried her best to accomodate the fact the match was on but looked so dejected and sad.
If you are going to accommodate the match being on on your big day, just make sure it's done in a subtle fashion.0 -
Roz, is that ice hockey you're referring to?
It looks like we've got a big match (which I want to watch :eek:) on our date, but DF advises that it'll probably be moved to the Sunday. Fingers crossed!0 -

Yeah it is... I don't think our fixtures are announced until next weekend so we'll see.0
