Guest/football RAGE!

I hope you don't mind me using this thread to say what I would dearly like to say (but am far too well brought up to do so) to those of my guests who have had the audacity to take to the pages of facebook to complain that a football match has been arranged on the same day as my wedding!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

There are LOADS of people I would love to come but I have not been able to invite, why don't you decline your invite and let someone civilised come instead of you. Or, if actually in real life you would much rather be at our wedding (as my OH assures me is the case with these people) then shut the  up about it on facebook.

Furthermore, if, as you have boldly claimed, "people should be banned from getting married on fixture dates", then why don't you go and get a :eek:ing JOB or some QUALIFICATIONS and you might then be able to have some influence on such policy as an active member of society.

And now, breathe, and smile sweetly at all guests :A

Perhaps you could get a TV in the corner of the room at the reception?

I was going to suggest that too.

of course it depends on how much you want them there, if you do, i would let them know that you will have a screen set up for them and so they won't miss out on anything.

If they'd rather watch a football match than go to your wedding, are they the kind of people you'd want there anyway?!

Where I come from (newcastle) football is HUGE! Guys (and women) are born with it in their blood.

I don't think it's so much 'if they'd rather watch a football match' but that they'd like to go to the wedding but know the football too.

I wouldn't mind having a screen/tv so that the footy can be on, but that's just me. If you really don't want that then I'd just ask them if they really want to come and if so to stop their remarks on fb. If they choose the footy then you win again, as like you say, you have people you can then invite.

I would be fuming if someone used that excuse with me! Football is not an excuse unless you are actually playing the damn match (maybe... :rotfl:) but then again, I only know 2 football fans (family) that we have invited.

My work colleague takes the p*** of me cos I have no interest in sport n have never been to a football match- I just don't get it! :rotfl:

I'm from Newcastle too and the majority of our guests are huge Newcastle fans. Even OH was joking the other day if there was a big game on he'd be late to the wedding! I'm still certain people will be checking phones etc during the day to check the score (we're playing Everton away that weekend), but I've just learnt to accept it and move on :rotfl: I've given up trying to understand men and football

I would be cross to be honest. I don't really like football it drives me mad, I can cope with watching the odd game thats all. My OH is a big Man U fan & my bridesmaid is a massive Liverpool fan so I was worried they might play each other on our day, but the list came out yesterday i've been told & there is not much on while we are away:j
Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.
