UKCPS £100 fine for parking outside the white line!
Comments

Thanks......she's just returned home and the ticket has been issued by UK Parking control Ltd, stating that as the car was parked illegally ( tyres over the white lines ) it's £80 but reduced to £40 if we pay within 14 days.
If this is unenforceable how do they get away with it ??
Do people just assume that it's a legal request in the same way as parking fines from the police or Council ?
But as the car is registered in my name, I assume that if we do nothing then any further correspondence will be coming to me even though I wasn't with the car ?0 -
Of course you weren't parked "illegally". Did they actually use that word? If so then they are in deep trouble. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

""If this is unenforceable how do they get away with it ??""
Because most people are so law abiding they assume the parking company are legal and should pay. They don't realise that its all smoke and mirrors.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

Their tickets mimic those issued by the police and local authorities and people assume they have the same legal standing. That is why people pay up without questioning the companies.
The truth is they don't have any legal authority whatsoever to issue these unenforceable notices."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

As above most people will just pay up as they dont want any trouble.
only by fidning places like this will they realise, but alas most people will just pay up, especialy if the fine isnt set to high.
The problem for the PPCs is one of greed, if they set the levels lower say at £35 and make their car parking spaces narrower then more poeople will pay without questioning google, or anything else, and just put it down to one of those things. From the Plain Language Commission:

UKPC are well known, Google 'UKPC indicted' to read about what Trading Standards think of their scam (although TS didn't do a very good job of the case).
Parking across a white line or even across 3 bays sideways, would not be 'illegal'.If this is unenforceable how do they get away with it ??
Because people are daft enough to pay what looks like a Parking Ticket. And because they are in fact only issuing an 'invoice', not using the word 'Penalty' or 'fine', they can get away with it just as any company could when issuing invoices.Do people just assume that it's a legal request in the same way as parking fines from the police or Council ?
Yep. Sadly so.
But as the car is registered in my name, I assume that if we do nothing then any further correspondence will be coming to me even though I wasn't with the car ?
Yep, even though it's not your issue or liability (nor is it your wife's though cos it's just a scam).
A 'Parking Charge Notice' is NOT a real PCN but a fake one.
Just ignore it.
The most that will happen is even more junk mail letters that you can ignore; you are just in the middle of a mail scam at the moment.
No private parking company (PPC) can actually issue a real fine or penalty. Nor can they affect your credit rating nor send a bailiff/sheriff's Officer round without the small matter of winning a Small Claim in Court first!
Won't happen. And UKPC have never done Court except for in the TS case I told you about above, when they were taken there.
Please read on...
We have so much info on here to help newbies understand and be ready for the letters. One click & you see all current threads here, most of which are about the 'fake PCN' scam.
Third from the top, click on 'PPC letters & threats'.
1. Watch the Watchdog clip on there, and then
2. scroll down to the pics of your fave PPC's threatograms, then
3. Play a nice game of snap with each matching templated threatogram, then
4. Tell your friends & family, colleagues, strangers, everyone! about the fake PCN scam so they never pay one.

Hi Folks
Many thanks for all the replies & info............I've discussed this with my wife ( she's still seething mad :mad::mad: ), and we've decided just to ignore any letters & demands.
I've frankly had enough of all these chancers & cowboys trying it on with the ordinary working people, It's hard enough in these times to keep your head above the financial tide. I'm also going to make sure all my friends are aware of the legalities ( or otherwise  ), of these demands.
Many many thanks again - I'll try & sleep a bit better now

I have had 3 ticket for parking "outside the marked bays" by UKPC at my work premises which is private land.
I have not blocked anyone in and parked in the same place before without getting ticketed.
Others have also parked in the same locations as myself without getting a ticket.
On one of the 3 occassion my car was the only one to get ticketed, yet others were also "parked outside of the marked bays".
I took photographic evidence of this when it occurred to show that I had been treated differently to others in exactly the same position.
Interestingly when I was ticketed the second time it was a day after I made the mistake of "appealing" the first fine.
They have now sent me 2 notices of payment of £90 each (up from £50) with a picture of my car and the parking sign in the background, which supposedly is my acceptance of the contract. They have said I have 28 days to pay or it goes to debt colectors when an additional £60 per ticket will be applied.
I need some advise on this please - if it went to court what are their chances of winning based on their supposed "contract" of parking within the lines, and my evidence that even if this were the case then they are not applying this equally.
Any advise greatly received.
Update - just received another ticket, same car park, work.car park, 4th ticketin all. Parked "outside marked bays" just as car next to me which received no ticket. This is UK parking control. As this is oviously not being fairly.applied should I do.anything or just ignore as per the rest? Based on 4 tickets does this change anything?0 -
Its the same on the Moon !

Well done on your 4th fake PCN...I only have two so you are beating me!
Just ignore it, even if you'd got 14 of them. UKPC do not do Court and have no right to take any action as they don't own the land. You must be getting a lot of junk mail at the moment!
I would complain at your workplace about this harassment though, sounds like the bays are a bit narrow (or is your car super-wide?!). And if anyone thinks it's a real fine please spread the word that it's just a scam and you will of course be ignoring it. Anyone who pays is an idiot with more money than sense.PRIVATE 'PCN'?
