UK summer camps for 10-16 year olds

I sent my 11 year old to a fantastic summer camp out in the peak district last summer. It's run through the Youth hostel Association(YHA) and is called ' Doit4Real'. I believe they have various themed camps around the UK. It's worth checking them out if you're looking to send your kids away for a week on a cheap activity holiday, did my daughter the world of good for her confidence.:D

I've been thinking about this for my dd for next year having recently heard about them (already booked this years holiday). How does it work once you've paid, do you just drop them off with all their stuff and pick them up a week later? wish they had this stuff when I was a kid, I love camping and the outdoors :o)

I'm not sure if each camp has the same times/number of days, but the camp we sent our daughter to near Buxton consisted of 5 evenings. Dropping her off on the Sunday afternoon and collecting her on the Friday morning. Though I think there was a mini bus option if you live in one of the larger cities but it's not something we personally did so you'd have to ask them about that.

Sounds great but alas a bit too expensive for me. Does anyone know of something similar but not quite so expensive? My daughter is 15 and I know she would love it.

On the brochure thats available to download it says families in receipt of income support or working tax credit get 50% off so makes it more affordable.....unfortunately we are just off the cut off point for working tax this year due to my carers allowance income
