Currently I am an unemployed student and I have a poor credit rating/ history.

I want to rebuild my credit rating and this card seems to be recommended for this.

Do you think I would be accepted on this card? Is it a good idea? will it actually help me rebuild my credit score?

I had no mobile contract, no overdraft limit. But they gave me a card...

I incurred a late payment fee a few months ago.

the £250 limit is extremely irritating.

However I still seem to be accruing cashback according to statements.
  • I wanted to buy a airline ticket which costed about 510. I asked customer service if I can pay in credit and then make the purchase of 510 i.e above my credit limit. But they declined saying that is not possible and the purchases should be below the credit limit. This some how seems incorrect to me. as such they have not said in T&C that going in credit is a breach of the credit agreement. And as such their policy of using full DD even after early payments might take many sparing spenders in credit after the DD. Not sure whether I should try this out anyway....

If a DD put your account in credit then thats fine. However, Aqua say that your credit limit is still the amount you can spend in one go. Ie, a payment for £501 would still be refused even if you had £600 available.

Not wanting to lose £100, so I've not tried it myself.

Has anyone had any experience of applying for this card and being refused and then applying a few months later and being accepted?

I am thinking of applying now to help my credit rating however I don't want to risk being turned down today and never being able to apply again.

Applied once, got rejected, then a few months later they sent me a letter suggesting I should reapply, just in case my circumstances have changed. I reapplied and got accepted. Happened to a few others in this thread too. Some got rejected the second time, even though they got the same letter I did.

You have to have been actively using the card, not just be a card holder.
That's not true. I got an overlimit fee straight away, so stopped using it and now they have upped my limit to £500
  • Hi up!

Is there any chance to check cashback amount on-line? Or you can only find out from your statement?

    Thanks!

I was just relating what they told me. I had my card for a month before using it as we used OH's card to start with. She said I had only been using the card for 3 months even though I'd had it for 4 months.

However there is no rhyme not reason to the credit limit increase as I got one with a month's less usage than the OH.
