Ok - As your partner is working as you are finding out they are now expected to support you (even on a low wage).

I personally disagree especially if someone has worked all their life.

You can see if you are entitled to LOW income benefits like Housing Benefit and Council tax benefits.

    Do you also claim DLA?

How many points off the Support Group were you? If you were in this group then your ESA would continue.

As you appear to be receiving Income Related ESA, albeit at a reduced amount, you may also qualify for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Credits, you should also get free prescriptions and dental care, go and see the CAB.

You say to budget more I don't set my water rates in the South West we have the highest water bills, Mine is £55 a month, noting I can do .
Electricity on a key meter we put in around £26 a week and gas about £5 a week in the summer. We need the car due to my illness, our two girls are in Uni. The TV licence is not set by me,iit will go down eventually to £12 a month. So please show me how to budget better, would be interesting to see

No one is saying that it is easy but instead of ranting and raving (which will get you nowhere) try some of the suggestions that have been made.

Disability Living Allowance - are you claiming this? (If you don't mind my asking, what is AS?)

If you are on a joint claim for income based ESA then you should qualify for CTB and HB. Have you applied for these?

I know you are angry but you must try and be more pro active. If there are only 2 of you at home most of the time, have you thought, for instance, of a water meter?

If you can tell us what benefits you are already getting then we can try and help you maximise your income. There may also be help in other ways that we can suggest.

To be honest I am a little confused about the amount you are getting for income based ESA. Have you got a private pension?

Do you still have all those tropical fish tanks and is this why your electricity bill is so high?
  • Right by the sound of it, we are not allowed to have a life when you are ill, my point of this thread was to highlight the problem with this government and how they have abolished ICB and replaced with noting and after 365 days you will then go on ESA Income, which then forces the local council to pay Rent and Council tax in full.

And according to all the helpful posts I now have to go to get free food, my daughters are at home, in fact both at Uni water rates over 12 months already doing that and what about the fish tanks? Well I have had to give up all of them except one which I have in the living room and NO it does not use up electric as you lot would make out, the cost is about 90p a week. But I expect that is wrong, and how dare I have a hobby I am ill!!!!! Then someone has said my partner is working, GOD read the thread, and as you also think you know the ESA system and asking how many points I have, is noting to do with ESA stopping, as mentioned it is a government law introduced that after 365 days it will STOP Just for the records I had over the 15pts needed and I also do not have medicals like some ESA claimants have to go through.

Yes I am angry but with not every response I take offence to go to the food hall, I have already lost all self esteem and I feel now that I am not entitled to some sort of living that I have to be looking after every penny for the rest of my life, how is that right???? I am 47 , and in pain 24/7 so I do get annoyed very easy, and in hindsight I wish I never posted anything, and if admin are reading this I would like it removed, I will apologise to all the helpful comments and did not mean to offend. This is all I am going to say, as mentioned I am in a very low place so I would appreciate no more comments Thank you

My wife gets a private pension of £90 a month, this is deducted by the government and used as income in. She gets £199 ESA 2 weekly I get £32 2 weekly, no CB or Tax Credit.

To break this down - as I understand it, she's in the support group, you're in the work-related.

The amounts don't seem to add up to me - you are making a couples claim for ESA, rather than two individual claims?
Or is she on contributions-based ESA.
Or I may have misread something.

You have both considered applying for DLA?
If you are able to get this at middle rate, you could then apply for carers allowance.

Have you considered switching to a water meter?
