I'm not a 100% sure. I have nothing basically after the failure of AC'97 and in it's place at the moment is Sigmatel C Major Audio.
I found the device manager no problem. I found how to do the update the driver - thank you. I am now wondering am I in the right place lol
In device manager I have been dealing with
Sound, Video and game controllers :-)
So does it say that the device is working? (It would not install if it was not the correct Driver)0 -
Hi TakeThis/Tanglefoot and all the other great helpers :-)
I do appreciate your help with my sound problem.
On Monday night I became saturated with my loss of sound. I had last night off and tackled the thread again today.
I started at the beginning of this thread and worked my way down. I can't be sure but I think the motherboard posted by Tanglefoot (thank you)download has given me half my sound back lol
There was more than one option with the motherboard website and I can now play itunes and cd's but not Youtube.
I also know the Realtek ac'97 that I downloaded was an older version than the lastest as my pc would not accept AC'97 A4:06.
I downloaded version A3:92 (5.28)
I dont quite understand why I have some sound but internet website sound.
Following the built in help (trouble shoot) on my pc. It told me to go to go Programs/Accessories/Entertainment and check the volume is on. I dont have anything in Entertainment, it is empty.
Should there be something in the Entertainment section?
Apart from having some sound now, I also have "An out of space object" created by Realtek called Avrack. It seems to be a sound controller but Itunes is set to default for most playing of music.
I have also ordered a usb sound card to try as hope was fading on Monday night. I thought my pc was too old for an update.
I'd be interested in any input to half of my sound and any good advice.
Thank you
Amanda
A further update

After posting the above, I was reading the posts on my thread again. I had not read alink to another post that Tanglefoot had posted.

I'm delighted.
Thank so much for everyone that offered help. Fantastic. :-)
