I've got a second hand Samsung notebook N130, which was working fine. I installed a DVD writer so as to be able to load cds. Once I had done this the USB ports won't work, I tryed to fix it myself, major mistake. Know nothing will work, I've lost the toolbar at the bottom of the screen where you go to log in and out. Please help someone I can't afford to take it to a shop to have it fixed.

What exactly did you do when trying to fix it yourself?
Will it start in Safe Mode and get to a working desktop (with start button)
Which flavour of Windows?How do I add a signature?0 -
Windows 7, I cannot log off because thats disappeared. I went into computer then manager (I think), I've messed about that much I think, well I know, that I've made it worse. All I'm getting now is a blank screen expcept for a cursor flashing top left corner. I've called myself all the names I can think of and a few more.0

What happens of you press the Windows (the one with a flag on) and Pause/Break (top right of keyboard) keys together. How do I add a signature?0

That model was never supplied with Windows 7. Unless you have the disc and COA, then it is most certainly a 'hooky' copy.
So it looks like back to XP if no licence for use.0 -
Just tryed that figment, not a lot happened. The desktop has come back on, with icons down one side, but no toolbar at the bottom right. There is a Windows 7 sticker & a intel Atom. I've also put Windows XP on it a couple of months back.0

May I suggest you do a system restore to a date when all was working to your liking. Start/all programs/accessories/system tools/ system restore0

So is it Windows 7, XP or dual booting between them?
What does the Microsoft label on the bottom of it say?How do I add a signature?0 -
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del, click task manager then file menu and in the start run/option type explorer.exe
You could also do the above and instead type rstrui.exe which will start system restore.0 -
