Ebay and Nectar points - a new rule?

Just a quick note - I have always gone through Nectar for small ebay items and noticed today that they have changed the rules, in that you now can't get Nectar points for items that are in your watching list. Very annoying.
I know this is the case with Amazon but it has definitely been added to Nectar/Ebay although I have no idea when - just something to be aware of.

Hi, this has always been the case with eBay, unfortunately if you purchase an item previously placed on your watch list, it’s not classed as a Nectar referral and we’re unable to award points.
To ensure no one is missing out unnecessarily, we try to keep our Important Information section as up to date and clear as possible.
I hope you enjoy collecting points with Nectar eShops in the future.

So if you delete the item from your watched list, close Ebay and then go back to Ebay via Nectar and search for & buy the item - will you get Nectar points?0

@sham63,
As long as the item is purchased following a link from Nectar eShops we’ll be able to track your order and credit your points, even if it has previously been on your Watch List.
As items on your Watch List may have been there for some time, the cookies we use to track the purchase may have expired, which means that we wouldn’t be able to credit the points.
To make absolutely sure that your points are awarded correctly, we recommend that you complete each bid or purchase following a new link from Nectar eShops.

I dont think any of my ebay purchases have worked.
Is it because its my ebay but nectar card is in wifes maiden name?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I wouldn't have thought so, forgotmyname, as long as you are going through the Nectar website and have the correct card number it should all link up - perhaps it is the 'watching' list thing.
Thanks to the Nectar reps for answering this, I'm a bit surprised that they say this has always been the case as I have many purchases going back over the years that disprove this!
(I have also communicated with them on several occasions when they have had special deals like triple points then taken their website down just as the offer is closing).
I'm also a bit surprised to find them lurking here, tbh, still, good on them for getting back to me/us.

And they now only apply to certain sorts of transactions like electronic/fashion and one other that I forget.0

Probably like Ebay themselves?
Deny everything. Remember when you logged into ebay and it didnt automatically log you out? Mine started logging me out.
I contacted them and they made all sorts of excuses. Blamed me and my computer, My ISP. Everything except admit its them.
Then one day it seems they automatically log you out for security reasons. Well its not made me any more secure.
Just have to log out and back in now when im going to buy something, Just in case it logs me out just as im about to bid.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
The idea of earning a few Nectar points is beguiling because I buy a lot on ebay, mostly antiques and workshop equipment, often quite expensive items, and almost always in auctions. I have saved myself literally thousands of pounds over the years by bidding via a Snipe site (I use BidRobot - no connection other than a satisfied customer) and I would much rather get my items at a lower price than earn a few Nectar points. Given the restrictions on Nectar I think it's for people buying Buy-it-Now stuff, ordinary consumer items, that sort of thing. Won't work for serious players like me.0

Nectar works differently now, you no longer have to go through the nectar website you can link your nectar card directly to your ebay account.S.P.C member 1662 - target £3000
