Bear in mind that WEP is easily circumvented. It's still better than nothing though.

Tip: make sure the router is set to broadcast on a channel other than 12 or 13 - some devices don't like that either. Conventional wisdom is to use 1, 5 or 9 for 802.11g/n; there can be considerable overlap between networks otherwise.

In addition to WEP, set up MAC filtering if it's an option on your router. It will only allow devices that are on the filter list to connect by wifi.
How do I add a signature?

    MAC filtering

    Spoof! :p

On a more serious note, you may be able to swap WEP for WPA-PSK (TKIP) if your options page looks like this.

Spoofing may get you around MAC filtering that BLOCKS specific addresses, but not when it only ALLOWS specific addresses. Unless the perpetrator is prepared to sit and discover the MAC address of a permitted device and then discover/crack the WEP password too, in which case they'd be welcome to my bandwidth and data.

But as your MAC address is transmitted in the data part of every packet you send/receive so getting your MAC address is easy (less than a minute would suffice. WEP auths can either be injected or forced by de-authing a computer with the valid WEP key and then sniffing it's re-auth.

Thats basic stuff that would take in total less than 10mins to achieve.

Whilst they may be welcome to your bandwidth I doubt you want them accessing your data (non ssl traffic, cookie data etc which can be used as MITM attacks).

WPA would take about 15-20 mins to crack and a reasonable WPA-2 (if the SSID was default) would take about 30mins with a rainbow table.

Without one, you'd had to compute a rainbow table with the sniffed SSID so I'd estimate 24hrs of computing time would yield this.
