Solicitors made a mistake and now want us to pay extra?

They overestimated a charge and I ended up with a refund of £280 after I had paid my "final" bill.I have a simple philosophy:

I must say that the OP has had the same advice from virtually everybody who posted on this thread. His indignation seems a little bit over the top. He was hoping that everybody would tell him that he could get out of paying his land registry charges, and naturally he is disappointed with the answers he has received.
The practical issue is that the solicitor is unlikely to register the property until the land registry fees are in his account. I imagine that that is why the solicitor is asking for a bank draft, as presumably time is running short. Most banks do faster transfers now, which would mean the money would be cleared within a couple of hours, and that would avoid the £15 fee, at least.
I also think that the OP is amazingly naive about his online security. He is apparently called Liam Jackson, and he has a mortgage with the Halifax, reference number A/40431529-4 for a starting figure of £91,995.00. This information is still available on his post 2 days after people warned him. (If he PM's me after he has taken down the information, I will amend this post.)No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
