Post Office account isn't the same as normal bank accounts. It's just for benefits to be paid into from the Jobcentre. You can't do anything else with it.

Not quite, it accepts child benefit and child tax credits too. My wife has one, she doesn't want a proper bank account!0 -

Yeah, but to be honest, anyone desperate would really be better off walking into their local CAB. Not that they will have any magic solutions, but a face-to-face will most likely be a lot more constructive than some internet forum posts.0 -

They may need to make an appointment though , I think the CAB forum has a 48 hour response target
or the adviceguide website - as recommended by the CAB Rep
