So you had an account. Why was that blocked?

Post Office account isn't the same as normal bank accounts. It's just for benefits to be paid into from the Jobcentre. You can't do anything else with it.

I still have it btw but not signing on anymore:D

Really I thought it was. As the account belongs to you and operates like any normal card only facility account.

Not quite, it accepts child benefit and child tax credits too. My wife has one, she doesn't want a proper bank account!

This type of account only allows benefit payments to be credited

(which is a bit daft if the government wants benefit claimants to find work)

Yeah, but to be honest, anyone desperate would really be better off walking into their local CAB. Not that they will have any magic solutions, but a face-to-face will most likely be a lot more constructive than some internet forum posts.

They may need to make an appointment though , I think the CAB forum has a 48 hour response target

or the adviceguide website - as recommended by the CAB Rep ;)
If you need help from us again, perhaps our Adviceguide website could help - www.adviceguide.org.uk. And the majority of our bureaux are also part of our Adviceline telephone service in England and Wales.
