Hello forum members. New guy here:money:
anyway,
I've never had a bank account before nor have I had any kind of credit but last year I decided to open my first ever bank account with Barclay's bank. I successfully opened a current account and a few days later I got my confirmation letter and check book. I was waiting for my card but before it even came through the post I got a letter saying the account will be closed but I was not told why. I called up Barclay's to find out but was told that it is ''classified''.
A few weeks later I tried to open current and basic accounts with Natwest and Co-Op banks and I was refused both accounts by both banks.
A few people told me to get a credit score as it could be bad credit. So I tried to get a credit score but the only problem was that I need a bank account to get a credit score. I noticed that Experian have a service which charges you £2 for a credit check which comes through the post so I did that only to find out that there is absolutely NOTHING in my name that says I have bad credit, debts or fraud.
I have been turned away by all three banks and have been told not to try to open another account within six months of trying to open one prior, so this has left me very angry and frustrated. I seriously do not understand why Barclay's gave me an account then closed it before I got the card.
Can someone give me some advice????
EDIT: Just remembered. Someone at Barclay's told me that they closed my account because I did not match the new criteria. They said that each account has a criteria for each individual and I did not match mine*shrugs*

Maybe someone has used your details to open bank accounts and credit cards in your name (fraud) and has blacklisted you from evreyone. You could try a halifax easy cash account no overdraft but you can get a credit check ect.0

That sounds very serious to me. Shouldn't something like that be on my credit statement?0 -
Yes thats why i would get a account with halifax or barclays where there is no overdraft and co-op as well (they more or less accept anyone for a no thrills bank)
Then pay for a credit check so you can see if you have been the victim of id theft. But there is the possabilty there is a innocent explanation. 0 -
Are you on the electoral roll? Do you have a british or european passport? Are you over 18?0

Ok will try Halifax and report back but I'm not to sure about trying Barclay's or Co-op again as they've refused me twice already0 -
Well most major banks do no thrills accounts. Best bet is halifax its either a cashminder or an easy cash account i cant remember. But they should accept you
