    Or your problem either.

As I said above, I get 10% discount off line rental, and route my calls through 1899 etc.

If you chose to pay more for the same service, that is your perogative. I am just pointing out a moneysaving alternative.

Once upon a time gas was provided by British Gas and electricity by MEB
They had the monopoly over those services. Now we can change gas and electricity suppliers whenever we wish to.............. but we don't have to pay British Gas or MEB for the use of their pipes and cables. Get my drift.

Central Networks are the electricity distribution company for the old MEB region, it is they who provide you with your electricity, and they get paid by whoever you are paying your electricity bill to. The same happens in other areas with their local distribution company, and each local distribution company charges different rates, hence why with electricity the rate you pay varies on where you live in the UK.

With Gas Transco own most of the pipes, with a few other small companies, they pump the gas around and are paid by the company you pay your pay your bill too, it's a little more complicated that electricity as the company you pay your money too buys in gas from different companies at different prices, but all the companies gas get mixed into the same network.

Knowing how other providers have it written into their T&Cs that they can bar the use of other providers (and some have done so), I'd be a little more concerned about the lack of detail in their T&Cs myself.

In any case, it's a business, not residential, provider anyway.
We can't transfer BT residential lines
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Actually, I have the same service on Resource Utilities, as I said on first post above. To answer the post you quote above, I only quoted the BT service as a solution to the problem, I certainly do not and would not recommend BT to even my worst enemy.

Don't quite understand your problem hurrah

I dont think its me thats got a problem.:D

If the service is so good why do you have to call them so often?

I have only had to call them to arrange the transfer of my residential BT lines after the satisfactory service on the business line. It was quite refreshing to speak to someone who remembered me, whom I did not have to go through endless press 1, press 2, press 3 etc.

Neither do I, I get discounted line rental, call over ride for 1899 etc. Just thought mine was a relevant post as it is moneysaving (the whole essence of this site).

I am just a little bewildered as to why you and moonrakerz seem so intent on diminishing the value of my posting?

They appear to be in breach of their own T&Cs (what little they publish of them) then:
We can't transfer BT residential lines, Featureline, Home Highway or lines with BT Call Sign.

In a thread that starts with the OP's complaint at BT receiving any income at all on its investments in telephone infrastructure, your post boasting that you can save a few pence a month, but still sub-let from BT, hardly seems progressive.

If you have a constructive and interesting suggestions for avoiding line rental altogether, or would add to comment on the likelihood of this either on landlines or newer alternatives like wi-fi, then do so, but at the moment you seem determined to hijack the thread off-topic.
