Tiscali Internet (Lack of!)

Options
We have been with Tiscali for about 2 years and we recently advised them that we were moving but we wanted to stay with Tiscali. We were moving on second March and they told us we would be fully connected by 6 March. On 6 March we were not able to use the internet and after a few phonecalls each advising us of a different date, one even told us we were no longer their customer! but then the agent we spoke to after this retracted this statement!!
The problem is we are still not connected and have now been told it might be 7-10 days. We have cancelled the contract as they are just messing us around but Tiscali have said that we must pay for useage 1 March to 31 March. We aren't even connected!! but they have said they will pursue. I'm not worried about what they'll do but surely this can't be right? any comments would be appreciated. Sorry about the long posting.
Thanks all

I moved in 12 December and it took them until 21st Jan to connect me and yes they also charged. I sent them an email asking them what the charge was for and I got a stupid response that it was for the internet. When i pointed out that I didn`t have internet they said I would have to ring the billing department. I really can`t face speaking to them again so I have left it. I will cancel my dd just before the end of the 12 month contract and they can whistle for it.

I can't see how they can possibly charge you for something you haven't had!

I wouldn't bother with any more phone calls, jot down all the points you mentioned in your post in chronological order, including dates and the names of the people you spoke to etc in a letter to the billing dept. Send it recorded delivery, then you have proof and keep a copy, just in case this comes back to haunt you in a few months time.

It doesn't have to be long, use bullet points and keep it simple. Tell them you are really annoyed and disappointed with their service on this occasion and suggest that they waive the bill as a gesture of goodwill...you shouldn't have to pay for a service that you have not received.
