@wayne77.
You can either run an ethernet cable direct from your Sky box to your router. Length of cable will depend on how far apart those two boxes are.
If your router is at the other end of the house from the Sky box or you do not want to see trailing wires between the Sky box and the router, you can connect the Sky box via a v.short (0.5m) ethernet cable to an Access Point Client (sometimes also sold as wireless gaming adaptor). This device then allows your Sky box to connect wirelessly to your router. In fact the £13 Edimax I linked to is functionally identical to the £60 Sky wireless connector mentioned in post #2.
Another option is to connect the Sky box to the router via homeplugs/powerline adaptors.

To give you an idea, I recently had to run an ethernet from my router downstairs to a pc upstairs. The pc is directly above the tv in the room upstairs. I used a 10m cable for this and that was more than long enough.0 -

No it's not, it's a wireless access point (although it does have a built-in switch).604!0 -

Still wireless though, even having the slightest possibility of losing connection during a tv programme or movie is enough to make me go for the cable option.0 -

I know, was just pointing out wireless is always a bad idea although judging by the state of the quality of some progs on anytime +, the files must be small enough to not see any problem.0 -
Thanks guys.
Think I'll try the Ethernet cable first of all and then decide if I need to go to wireless after ive tried the Anytime+ .

Wayne.
Good plan, I spent ages getting a wifi router working as a wifi bridge for my TV and Sky HD box. It took ages and a firmware update to dd-wrt to get it going.
It works very well and I often use Iplayer on the TV but am not that impressed with and have hardly used the Sky anytime + over the internet.
You may find more content to suit you but before spending £20 or so on wireless components I agree you should try it out via cable. I bought this 30m cat5 ethernet cable from Ebay for £3.25 delivered to connect my bedroom Tv and it works fine.
