Please put me on the list, saving £40,000, 1% is £400

Currently 2.5% of the way there (Including the 0.5% seem to make it more bearable!)

Not included in the total yet, but all inspired by this thread in the last 10 days:

    Sales
    1. Ebay sales to date: £48 this will slow down now the easy big ticket items have gone!
    2. Old iPhone sold: £40

    Total Sales: £88

    Savings/Other Income
    1. Quidco tracked to date: £14.89 (I travel a lot for work and BA offer a lot of cashback, this helps!)
    2. Drive my own car to the airport instead of a cab: £45.60 It's a very cheap to run Toyota Aygo, HMRC rules mean I get £0.40 per mile for business expenses, it costs £0.12 per mile in fuel: (also saving my company almost £100 on the cost of a return cab) I can probably do this three to five times per month. I don't include cost of running as it's a car we own anyway, with free tax and no MOT requirements.
Total Other Income: £60.49 another airport run next week to add as well.

    Others
Land Rover service and MOT: £224 - Land Rover garage quoted £600, so £376 saved by shopping around. Not sure if I should put this towards my %% though as I didn't have anything put aside to pay it.

I've also downloaded the Field Agent app, not had the opportunity to do one of the Mystery Shops just yet, though there is a Gin and Tonic one on the way home tonight for £8.50...

Not a bad start, and it's really motivated us to save/earn money in every way we can, especially as we're just starting our savings journey and in for the long haul!
  • Where's the best place to find out about craft fayres? Trying to find a few in Dec that would be good to start with.

Hi LittleMiss - I look on www.stallfinder.com and search via county. I also look out for posters etc around the local area. I have also contacted schools in the past as most of the time they are quite happy for "outsiders" top have stalls at their christmas fairs etc.

Facebook is also quite good for finding events - we have a norfolk crafts group where several local to me are advertised - well worth checking to see if there is a similar group local to you.

Hope this helps and happy crafting xxx

Another update whilst I want for my official Joinee number... ;)

We've just sold 105 DVD's to Music Magpie netting us £60.37

I've also totaled things up properly. I've taken fees out of the ebay totals, and taken actual costs out of driving to the airport.

To do this I have used 'maths'

When I'm away with the car my wife takes the boy to the Childminder in a big thirsty Land Rover which costs £12 for the 33 miles round trip to drop him off, rather than £4.60 in the Toyota Aygo roller skate. It also costs £10.20 to do the round trip to Heathrow for me in the 'roller-skate', leaving the actual balance as £26.03 "income".

Here are the new totals for November savings to date.

    Ebay (after ALL fees): £39.40
    iPhone sold: £40.00
    Music Magpie: £60.37
Take own car to airport x2: £52.06
Quidco: £19.09 (I've also just booked some more flights so there will be more tracked soon)

New total in November: £210.92 or another 0.5%!!

    New total = £1,265.92 or 3(and a bit)%

I'm sad to say I'm having to start again on the %'s, after having part of the chimney falling in on our house we've ended up changing from a coal fire over to a gas system and we basically had to put pretty much every spare bit of money into it as well as redecorating after they had finished the work!!! So I'm here again!! My 1% is £25, I am determined not to let it go anywhere else this time!!!!
    SPC6 #116 £652.75
    SPC7 #116 £674.50
    SPC8 #116 £1010
  • Hey LeaLea89,

Sorry to hear about the chimney! As long as you & your family are ok that's the main thing.

At least the percents were there to lessen the cost. Sometimes they're for debts and sometimes they're a buffer between lifes little happenings!

Well done on starting again :)
