  • Back again so soon to add my first 1% :T :D

After posting to join i had a root round, rounded up all the little coinage stashes around the house, managed to get £5 in 20p & 10ps plus lots of coppers.

all the coppers are in the coppers pot, and the £5 in bigger coins is in my purse (will use these on self service tills), and £5 out of my purse is now stashed in the savings pot :D

I just did this too and got to £4 so that is added to my £50 from babysitting.

Also sold a £15 Next voucher (that a got free with a lovefilm trial) to my sis to I am now up to 3%

Pay day tomorrow so this will definately add a few more %'s as I did a few overtime hours last month.

Also for those crafty people, I came across I new crafting website called makesellbuy. It is still in beta stage and is currently free to sign up AND sell/buy. Looks like it uses paypal, might be worth a gander?

    Hello everyone! hello.gif

Had a lovely weekend, even though I was working (at a wedding) it was a beautiful day. Also did quite a bit of work Sunday too, then had a nice rest and a tasty tea!

Hope you all had a nice weekend too! Lots of new percents in the bag!

Welcome to the newest members - Pernicious, TheMoneySpider, Rubyinamountainofrocks. Lovely to have you join in!

I shall be updating the list again shortly with the new folks & everyones new percents - great going everyone!
Is everyone still filling in their squares?

Yes, I love my squares! I also make a little note inside them (in pencil) reminding me how I made the cash to fill in that percent.

The surprising thing is that they were all easy tasks!

Then I can look back through what I've done so far and it's a nice feeling, plus it keeps me motivated to carry on with more tasks.

Also I can see if anything that has already worked for me is repeatable etc.

When it's full, I'ma gona frame the darn thing! :rotfl:

Oooh ooh ooh - also, exciting news - my affiliate site made it's first few pounds :p Not quite a whole percent yet but I've done absolutely zero to advertise it, I just set it up and left it alone! I might do a little bit of free advertising now to see if it causes a little boost.

I've had a few extra 'gigs' on fivesquids too, 'bout a quarter of the way to making my percent on that!

No news yet on the PPI front. Had endless letters from HSBC - none have actually said if it has been up held or not. Into week 11 now! Sheesh!

Just got my first job on people per hour. I was feeling really discouraged with them and elance, but maybe it just takes some time. Never dealt with escrow payments before so it'll be an experience, but excited to be able to ad some more money to the pot...I'll report back on how I found the whole process in case anyone else is interested.

Just thinking about invigilating for exams....do they hire invigilators for the prelims in December?
  • Hi - can I join please x We have got debts to pay off but we really need to fix our dining room as we have guests for xmas  not the best way round things but we have needed to replace the carpet for a few years - it is literally threadbare! the rug we put down isnt even covering it anymore lol.

  • Hi everyone - Is'nt it great that this thread is still inspiring people to start the 1% challenge. :T

Well I done my craft fair on Sunday and although it was hardly advertised so nobody knew it was on, my facebook likers came through and turned up to see me after my facebook post and I made £100 so that has just been paid into the bank and added another 3% to my total :j
The other good news is that my hubby sold his motorbike for £2200 so although I cannot count this towards my % challenge, once it clears into the account we will have made our £40k savings target :D

However my aim was always to add £3k in 2012 to our savings pot so I've still got a little way to go

    So Member 17 = 87% :j:j

No more sales today but we will be getting paid this week so will see what we can add to the pot :)

Just listed 2 sleep sacks on my FB selling page. They are boyish and ive got enough neutral/girls ones for bump so hoping to get £7.80 for the pair after postage and pp fees. (1% is £7 ;))

Checked my credit file with Credit expert (Experian) they are doing a free trial, i found out my credit score is 'fair' according to them. My outstanding debts are correct but for some unknown reason my phone contract and car insurance isnt on there? And a few 'associated addresses' are incorrect (house number as 47 instead of 7, same street) so emailed them to correct those! Also it says im not on the electoral roll but im 99% certain i am. Grr. Anyway i might sign up to the other 2 main ones and check they are right. No point sorting my finances out if they have my details wrong!

Nothing else gone on today! Sarah x

  • Hi, I have taken my eye off the finances over the last three years and have racked up a substantial debt.

I have been managing it but have suddendly given myself a dose of strong reality. I must tackle the debt and not just manage it!

The 1% motivation has got me going, this mountain will take some climbing but I feel motivated to tackle it, one step at a time!!

Thanks so much to you all for giving me some direction - EBAY, Preloved, Car boot sales, Music magpie, some of the stage one efforts!!
